This has to happen. Sunderland AFC is not a club for the likes of Johnson, Parkinson, Grayson, Ross, Moyes.

Our club is box office and needs a box office manager for it to click regardless of what league we are in. Fuck all these ‘lower league’ ‘tried and tested’ managers, we are Sunderland AFC and these wasters have no right to be anywhere near our football club.

BRING KEANO HOME

I hear you man

On the one hand I think if Keane is serious about ever getting into management (not to mention the fact he's said many good things about us and that he has unfinished business here) then realistically I cannot ever see him getting a better opportunity at this stage.

On the other he's a stubborn b@stard. Whether it be money (surely can't be an isuse), length of contract, control over various team affairs including recruitment, style of play etc, then I could easily see him not agreeing if it didn't fit his demands.

On the face of what we've seen tonight it looks abundantly clear he wants the job and so far so good, but there's always that bit of doubt due to Roy being Roy.

Following various comments made towards me this will be my last note in regards to Roy Keane.

1 I have said from Wednesday that initial talks have taken place with RK which went well and that subsequent meetings were to take place.

2 You may recall The Chrinicle via James Hunter stated late on Wed night that contrary to reports no discussions had taken place, he was totally wrong with that statement.

3 Yesterday morning you will remember the Chronicle and then the Echo backtracked and reported they now believe talks have taken place after previously stating they hadn’t.

4 The Board under EFL rules as I said I am earlier post today have to go through a process of interviewing others. Regardless of that it makes absolute total sense for the Board to interview others anyway including McCann who I had mentioned for two obvious reasons. One- RK doesn’t come across that he wants the job enough or they can’t agree the terms of any potential contract, and secondly you should always have your alternatives if you can’t convince your preferred choice.

5 It’s my absolute view and has been from the outset that I have tried to get across that if all went well Keane was and is their preferred choice.

6 I have said on a few previous occasions that it’s now ultimately down to Keane and I still believe that is the case.

7 Roy Keane in my view will agree to become our Manager and will be announced within the next few days. Nothing I have seen from him tonight had changed that view, in fact it only confirmed what I hope and believe.

Thanks

Iagree although I totally understand why he might not come if he only gets a deal til end of season

So it’s style and not substance your after, celebrity not hard worker you want.
Problem is from our perspective you favour people you find interesting.
I want to favour whoever is best for the job and as I don’t get to do the interview I don’t know who that is. But as hell has to be a better coach than Johnson or we are simply doing the same thing we always do and not replacing manager with an upgrade
All in your opinion of course.

Needless to say I disagree.

I favour him because I respect him. And because of the job he did here last time. And because the atmosphere from the fans would be electric.

I've noticed this too. Seems very calm and almost softly spoken tonight. True, there's nothing to rant about on this game, but his overall demeanour seems very different to the norm

I think it’s down to whose on the panel with him too. I think he quite respects Wright but some of the muppet pundits he doesn’t.

It’s all just caricatures though. Playing the role.
