This. The only way it would make sense would be if we were at home on Tuesday. Defoe coming gives a big boost to the crowd for Saturday, then they announce Keane and everyone wants to be there on Tuesday. As it is we're away on tuesday, then away on Saturday, with the next home game being the 19th. It would make zero sense not to announce it and get the place rocking, even if you announce it but say he'll watch from the stands and officially take over on Sunday.
We dont have time to manipulate the timing and ffff about to suit crowd attendance and media impact . Every single day is vital to have everyone ready to "hit the ground running" . ( Hate that expression ) Time is not on our side .

I don't agree with this mind.

Sure, Keane has a great punditry gig, but it's clear from several interviews in which he has made no secret of his desire to have another crack at management.

He's hardly been inundated with offers, and has only really had brief talks with a few clubs at Championship relegation level over the years that haven't really gone anywhere.

Now he has an opportunity to return to a club he knows, a club he will feel confident of getting promoted, and a club with a, quite frankly, ridiculous fanbase, setup and facilities at this level.

He doesn't need us per se, but it's highly unlikely he'll get such a perfect opportunity to get back into management ever again.

"All" he has to do is get us out of League One, a task he'll be very confident in completing, and his hero status here will elevate even further. It's perfect for him.
Agree with all your points tbf.
But on the other hand, with the candidates linked and the talk of interviews with McCann, Lennon etc, I really feel like we need Roy.
As a fan base we 100% need Roy, look at the excitement it’s caused the last couple of days.

I’ll be more gutted than he will be if he ends up turning us down due to backroom issues, can’t stand SD already but if he has out to do with f***ing this up i think I’ll flip

That would make no sense to us, the club or Keane.

We cannot waste 3 points on a publicity stunt.

Keane will have more impact than Defoe.

It's a Hail Mary, and those are fun. I'll be excited if we do get him honestly.

But it is a total wing and a prayer one in a million shot. That's all I'm saying. I don't think there's an argument for it beyond basically rubbing the lamp and hoping a genie comes out.

But it's the most fun option definitely.
It is! Sport is supposed to be entertainment. We are bit of a basket case club. He’s a bit of a basket case (in a good way) full stop. It just works!

Aye, mentioned that in my next post. If he signs the contract it'll be announced pretty quick because we don't have time to waste. Plus once it's signed it's bound to leak and, especially after defoe being announced on safc fan TV, I'm sure they'll be doubly keen (no pun intended) to break this one on their official channels, especially as it'll be more newsworthy

I text my mate yesterday and told him what I’d heard. I also said he could put it on here.

He hasn’t. I’m not a shitehawk either.

The only reason I’m not posting it is because I got burned with the Mags takeover, but my sources are spot on - a healthy mix of clubs and journos.

That said, what I’ve heard has been posted by others on here too.

I’m sure it’ll all come out. But I’m going to bed happy and so you all should too.
Vinnie wouldn’t hold back info

@Steve F has said categorically Keane is our new Manager.

The same bloke said Johnson was sacked when everyone even the journos was saying he was safe. He also called Defoe before it hit the headlines.

With that in mind, why would we doubt it. Surely the bloke is bang on.
Won’t believe it unless I hear it from the man longhorn himself

Reet blast from the past

So what do you make of a canny ITK like Prehab over the road suggesting that there is an issue from Keane’s side with the ‘leadership’ (I’d think this is the ownership group) group and that he wants assurances that there’ll be no interference from any element of it (he doesn’t name names).

Prehab hasn’t said it won’t happen but you seem categorical with don’t worry. How are you so confident?
They’ll have nowt to do with Keane being appointed and prehab knows nowt like.
