Short upset the apple cart more than anyone, and everybody got impatient. The fans were anxious over his contract situation, which Keane has now addressed in the Neville interview, and you have to say he couldn't have really been fairer. But that's one of the nuances that us fans never get wind of 'til the books are written years later.

We've only got 17 games left. No transfer window. He'd have to come in, get a side together from the existing squad, and get us firing from the get go to have any chance whatsoever to make the automatics.

The greater likelihood is we go into the play-offs, and he'd have to prove himself to everyone over those three games. But again, he can only do that with what we've got. We know there's a frailty there in midfield. We know some of these lads are flaky. We know it won't be easy. With it being Roy Keane, the returning hero, I think the expectation on him will be greater than it would anyone else - whether that be a Warnock or a McCann or some unheard of. That's a lot of weight to carry. The romantic in me absolutely loves it, but I think it really would be last chance saloon for Roy Keane the manager.

But I think he’s probably in the last chance saloon anyway. He seemingly can’t get a job he wants (he probably wanted the Celtic job last summer), so it’s win or bust with us (if he comes). I don’t think he’ll mind that.

Exactly this . True professionals who have the same standards as Keane will love him . The rest can fuck off .
 
Logically I wouldn't want Keane for a number of reasons, but looking at the other names linked not one of them inspires or impresses me, would much rather have the excitement factor with Keane than any of the others on the list.
 
Agbonlahor is exactly the type of player who would have fitted in perfectly here during our relegation from the PL and subsequently the Championship.

A fat knacker, awful attitude and a complete waste of space in a dog fight.

While his man management will need to be adjusted as dressing rooms have changed a lot, Keane can't abide people like Agbonlahor and rightly so.

He has to. His reputation as a manager in the game has all but gone. It might end up being his last proper job in football.

He's just an out and out leader.

Could he be a bit smarter with awkward situations absolutely but if you end up left with a setup without deadwood then is it so bad to alienate idiots?!
