Roy Keane

I've seen fans on here tonight mentioning 'Man Management' and how it was a problem for Keane. Im guessing these fans haven't seen what past players, who played under Roy have said about him and his management techniques....its quite the opposite.

Keane got players playing to their peak levels and built a mentality in which the players bought into, he made them believe they could win by putting in the hard yards. Its no coincidence that when Roy came in, we scored many late goals and always played to the final whistle. He instilled that into a side that were rock bottom, yet if you listen to some on here, the man lacks 'Man management' skills.

Then there's "The modern game has past him by" comments. I (like most) have seen plenty (too much) League One football and I can tell anyone who wants to listen that there's no modern game at this level. In fact, I'd say that when some of our previous coaches down here have tried to bring about this modern style of play, its often left the team confused, along with the very head coach who's trying to implement it.
Spot on.

It’s not like he watches and analyses modern football for a living or anything.

Little story about Roy Keane I heard on video on Facebook I think (probably via YouTube) as told by Anton Ferdinand.

The players came in at half time during a premier league game 1-0 down.

Keane let them have 5 minutes then came in the dressing room. He said, this game is there for the taking we just need to show some balls so I need some of you to man up, be a leader and grab this game by the scruff of the neck. He then turned to Ferdinand, obviously not you Anton, I know you haven't got the bollocks for it!

Ferdinand said he was f***ing fuming. He went out 2nd half and bust his nuts as did all the other players. They ended up winning 2-1. He came in the dressing room after the game looking for Keane and there he was smiling from ear to ear. It then dawned on Ferdinand that he had just used man management to get the best out of him! He thought it was brilliant.
Brilliant that, from the Fergie handbook.

Was he approached or did he apply ?…….Either way..I am delighted Keano is getting an interview…..i really think of all the jobs out there managing us again would be in his top 3 wishlist……i doubt he has even applied for many others

if he’s genuinely thinking about a last minute Ross Wallace winner/jump in to the crowd - it was at Hull. Almost the last kick of the game, and he got sent off for a second yellow when he took his top off and jumped in the away end.

He did also score the winner v Derby, but it wasn’t last minute. It was after about an hour.
But do you remember as he was going off, half way across the pitch he turned round and saluted us behind the goal - laugh I nearly shit. Just great times.

Have you been paying attention to the dross, misery and disappointment the last 6 years?

How could his appointment be any worse than now. Let yourself have some fun man, you've forgotten what it's like to be inspired. Come on, I've give ya a hand up onto the train.

That's exactly what I mean. It's harking back to a nostaglic part of our recent history and clinging to that rather than any forward planning.

He walked away last time despite having a decent two seasons. I love the man but I think this will go tits up.

I hope im wrong and if he takes us up ill be more than happy to admit I called it the wrong way.

See I think thats more his strong point tbh. Look what he done in his 1st season with us.
I know, but equally the counter to that is Ipswich.

And also, more subtly, the key to his success in that first year with us was really all about getting his players in. He won't be able to do that here.

He can set up a team properly. He won't leave the team unprepared, they'll want for nothing in that respect.
