Roy Keane

Considering he was our manager for over 2 years, I find it incredible some 'fans' literally talk about his publicised persona rather than what he actually did here.
Exactly. He took a team who had just broken the top flight lowest points totals and narrowly avoided the all time record of games lost in a row iirc. He got them not only promoted but winning the league fairly comfortably in the end and then kept us up again fairly confortably when the previous two seasons in that league had ended up with us bottom with record low totals.

Seems very reflective of his time at Sunderland and Ipswich. He knows what he did well and what he could have done better.

I would have him back in a heartbeat. Imagine what it would be for a young player in League One to have Roy Keane as your manager.

Not to mention what it would give the crowd. The advantage we would have in the run in, if we could genuinely get the pace bouncing, can't be overstated. I honestly think a lot of opposition players/teams would just fold if the place was really rocking.
Said it a while ago. Every day that passes is a day closer to Roy Keane being our manager again. If he’s gunna get a shot now is his moment.

Imagine our young Dan Neil getting the parts of his game he needs work on, getting advice and coaching from one of the best in his role of the last 30 years.

I'm not being funny but why can't you just let us lifelong Sunderland fans discuss this as we want to think positive and increase positivity. Just come back another day or comment on a different thread.

I haven't seen what he has written as he is on ignore, but I can guess.

Unfortunately it's his modus operandi: spend all day on the internet, on a message board of a football team he says he has never seen play, waiting for popular threads (for maximum attention) that he can derail, so that people notice him, and even better if they think he is someone he isn't. Deliberately misspell words along the way for extra attention.

Life must be pretty empty when that's how you get your kicks.

Anyway, back to Keane: I'd support it, probably against my better judgment, on the grounds of the lift it would give. That might be all that is now needed to see us past the finishing post for automatics or playoffs. Not sure there's much to be lost by a short term appointment, and if he gets us up keep him on.

Well mate,
as i feel so strongly about it, I've actually bought a tin of CHAOKOH tinned bananas!!!!!

i have no idea of methvens orinetation nor do i care. Im not charlie and not gay..but you refer to peoples dress sense and way of walking as "mincing"..which means to walk in an effeminate way as a man...why would keane dislike that? why would he make jjudgements of someone based on that? is it because people who do that are stereotyped a certaion way? is that way, that they are stereotyped, homosexual? judging the stereotype is what bigots do just as much as judging the reality.
Cf Robbie Fowler and Graeme Le Saux
Being gay and mincing aren’t mutually exclusive. Charlie Methven minces when he walks; a mince which is exaggerated due to the wearing of shite socks and loafers. As you’re not Charlie, you can imagine my surprise as this has seemingly touched a nerve and even weirder is your attempted homophobic slur.

Had the audacity to mince around the pitch with the Durham Miner’s Association as well, despite being the biggest Thatcher fan boy there is. Odious toad.

Funny enough those who wouldn't have Keane are giving almost the same reasons that the SAFC board gave about Clough when they wouldn't have him.

We need a manager now who will have an immediate effect m - Keane will.
I just remember what quinny said, the day of the West Brom game she Keane was introduced to the players before he had ever signed for the club the players stood up taller and we went out and won 2-0.

Fair play but I just can’t see us agreeing his terms. He would won’t come on a short term deal, so what £1m+ a season for 2-3 years?

Openly said on that interview with Neville that he'd be up for a champ or top of league 1 job.

Unless he was a thicko he'd have to accept being on a pittance compared to Sky.

Can't expect a multi year flashy contract at a league one club battling to get up.
