Can’t believe there are names like Woodgate and McCann getting thrown about and people don’t want Keane.

I have some reservations but he’s by far the most inspiring of those linked.

Played & coached at the highest level - tick.
Knows the club and area - tick.
Can motivate and set standards - tick.
Plays exciting football- tick.
Can handle the pressure and expectation - tick.
Will get the place rocking and fans onside from the off - tick.

Na fuck it, let’s bring in another league one manager

Love Keane. But he would be all wrong. I don't see him being able to work within the set up. He'd need to take orders from Speakman, take the players which were recruited for him, and turn up in Sunderland to take training. These are all things which would make him angry.

It isn't going to work.
He's not daft if he doesn't like the T's and C's he won't take the job, he might not like the restrictions and turn us down and that's his perogative and it shouldn't result in a backlash from people on here spitting their dummies out, I'm more than happy for him to come but he has to know what the job is, he can't bleat about it afterwards, fwiw I think he's a different bloke than was here last time and if he's not he hasn't learnt from his subsequent roles.

It's league one football. A manager just needs to keep the play simple and be able to motivate players if they're on a five game winning run or a five game losing streak.

Keane until the end of the season is a fantastic appointment for us. I wouldn't give him a contract for longer than that at this stage in the season.

We need a manager until the end of the season only. Then we can reassess things when we know where we are division wise and other candidates become available as clubs change manager
I don’t think you motivate just through fear anymore. Just my opinion

Also, would stop us being a soft touch and getting bullied to fuck!

We used to laugh at the mags over their Keegan and Shearer obsession. We are going the same over Keane and Defoe. We just lost 6-0 and it’s seems forgotten over a couple of big names.

I like Defoe but can’t stand Keane. Some of the things he’s said and done over the years are appalling. We will become Ireland reserves again and that won’t get us where we want to be.
Out of the proposed candidates he looks like he'd have the biggest impact in the shortest space of time.
Unless you've been living under a rock, we have 17, yes 17 games to save the season. Someone to come in and have time to settle isn't a luxury we can afford.

We need an impact - a shake up.

The seasons not dead but it could be if we appoint a manager who doesn't immediately command respect - with players running through brick walls for him.

I'm with you. We need to look to the future not the past.
