This is what I think. I've absolutely no inside knowledge but I recognise the rotten stench of an over thought PR exercise when I see one. To the point I'm fairly sure if you pointed out it was a PR clusterf**ck those involved would tut, shake their heads and sayb 'This isn't PR. This is Comms.'

There’s absolutely no way the PR team has had any input into the new manager like

It will either go really well or end in tears.

11 years ago he almost got Ipswich relegated and achieved the longest run they had ever encountered without a win.

However 14 years ago he got us promoted to the premier league.

My point is, he’s done nothing either way since and the fan hysteria isn’t warranted. I mean there has to be someone better out there than someone who last achieved something as a manager 14 years ago
We’ve tried that with our last however many appointments, managers that have spent careers in lower leagues, promotions on their cv’s, it just hasn’t worked, the majority are gagging for Keane to come, it’s a gamble we’ll worth taking, he literally can do no worse than those before him, he’d raise the profile of the club massively, me for one thinking about getting to matches I wouldn’t normally because of the buzz he’s to be announced.
League 1 clubs don’t attract names like Keane, Gerrard, Lampard, we’ve got his attention, get the deal done, as you’ve said it may work, it may not, this club is going absolutely no where at the minute, I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t roll the dice on this. The energy it’s created amongst us supporters is an achievement in itself, the appointment of McCann goes so far the other way, people stop going, fact

Totally agree

No, Speakman is just f***ing useless.
He’s an academy director or whatever, what the fuck does he know about getting managers in?
Sounds like they should have had a more thorough recruitment process and taken a bit more time to decide if he was the right man for the job.
Absolute waffle.
