Agree mate. He's not Shankley, or Paisley, or Fergy, or any number of others you care to mention. But he's done it once with us, and a damn site better than the other mob being mentioned.

The job needing to be done here mate, any decent, self regarding manager would not touch a short term deal.
Why wouldn't a manager who is sure of their success need a long term contract?

Not now you won't. Even if we appoint Keane, I can't see us getting over 38K again this season. Today has ruined that.
I agree. Sadly the calibre of player we have and the mindset they possess, I don’t think they will ever be comfortable playing in front of the size of crowds we can/could/should pull like today. Rabbit and headlights spring to mind.

These players are playing in league one for a reason and crowds the size of today are an anomaly at this level and I truly believe that the players we have and have had the last few years are completely out of their depth playing in front of a crowd that size and with big club expectations

Agree, but...............can you think of a man that might be able to change that mentality?

It will be down to money and length of contractI
Doubt he needs the money and he won't be earning masses as a pundit. Only Lineker seems to manage that one.Contract length might be a bigger issue but he seems to have the desire. It was interesting that when he had the long interview with Gary Neville he said he knows he wont get a Premier league club but he mentioned Championship or a one near the top of League One. A real come and get me comment.

Aye can't be dropping any of their mates. f***ing unbelievable how Matete didn't walk straight into that team. SAFC obsession to not start new signings, they have to come off the bench for some weird reason.
Never got that either. Surely they would be busting a gut to do well in their first game, especially at home.
