It's clear they've been monitoring coaches from a point of view of succession planning for some time.
He also mentioned in the podcast about people being available who you wouldn’t expect to be available. Keane is the ideal candidate for the position we’re in. He’ll provide a boost to the club that may well be enough to get us over the line.

It's true that he did also say that. Time will tell.
 
Roy Keane doesn't fit the profile of the next coach as indicated in the statement from speakmann I've just read.
I feel confident it's not Roy Keane.

This is the quote from Speakmann that I’ve just read:

“We are trying to go a couple of layers below that - what impact does that person have? What style of play do they have?”

They don’t want the DOF to interfere with the style of play.

Just had a look and it talks about wanting someone who adds value to the club and is progressing as a coach.

You might not think that applies to Keane, but it sure as hell doesn't apply to the likes of McCann, Lennon or Woodgate.
