Except for the goals my abiding memory of him was when he'd come back to talk with Corry Evans to give his advice or views mid game. So many forwards are self involved but RS used his position up front to observe the game and try help his teammates during the match. A proper team player with acute game awareness who understand his role individually as well as collectively.
Still one of the favourite Sunderland players even if he played the majority of his games for us in League One. Brilliant to see him do well tonight. Hopefully we start to see the best of him

Great player for us, fcked off to bloody Southampton, below us in the league, after we'd stood by him and nursed him back to fitness.

No brainer for Scotland. Beyond McTominay, Christie and McGinn they aren't many goal scorers unless Kenny McLean is going to score from the halfway line every match. RS must get in above Adams, Shankland or Dykes

Both Watson and Stewart who scored huge goals at Wembley for us to take us out of the doldrums.
You sound like a barrel of laughs.
Ridiculous opinion. We got good money for him and he never did us any disservice. We have some very odd people among our fanbase, that's for sure.

He finally got us out of the league one doldrums, he was crocked yet we turned a big profit on him that was reinvested into a squad that was ultimately promoted to the Prem.
Oh and seems to be a really nice lad who has worked his way up from the lower Scottish divisions.
No complaints from me.

By stood by him you mean honoured his contract I presume which we had to do.
Southampton were promoted the season he left and he left on deadline day so if Southampton were beneath us it wasn’t for long!
It was a brilliant transfer for us and him as it turns out- a life changing contract for him and a good fee for us.

I’ve said it a few times on here, but it was a good signing for Southampton as well imo.
At the time they had another striker or two already there who were good enough to get them promoted, so RS was an added bonus.
They had the time and capacity to let him get fit, and with PL parachute payments could afford his wages easily, and had the risk paid off (and he’d been fully fit) they essentially got one of the best natural strikers I’ve seen at Championship level for a ridiculously cheap price.

I have no problem with someone working hard in any walk of life, and being rewarded with promotion or a new job. Ross is no different.
