Ross Stewart

Course he was. Doesn't change the fact that he wanted to go though and it bizarrely gets people angry if you don't care about ex players on here.
I've seen plenty get angry if you do care about them, so you're stuffed either way. ;)

Great for us but another one who thought the grass was greener.

Club has made some of these transfers decisions look a bit silly.

The window to earn big money and/or play in premiership is small for most.
In his case injury makes that even less likely, if you then factor in that teams overhaul the squad you may find yourself not needed.
All things considered for him it was probably still the right thing.
Jack Clarke on the other hand I think made the wrong move as we were built for him as a team and still would be and it was only another 12 months

No, but I don’t see how that’s relevant in respect of the specific advice I’d received and relayed.

What are your qualifications in this field?
I strongly suspect that though a severed tendon could be stronger at point of severance it will carry scar tissue which will reduce it flexibility . No biggy in day to day life but not ideal for people pushing elite sporting boundaries .
My qualifications are knowing bodies dont improve after damage and lets be right , Rosco isnt actually proving me wrong to s he ?;

Surely it will depend upon the injury??

No doubt some ruptures will have lots of scar tissue and some will be relatively ‘clean’.

My only point was to question your blanket assumption/assertion that ‘If you do your Achilles like that you'll always 'carry an injury, - on the basis of specific expert advice I’d received.

Mine have been bad for years mate. Get better , kick off again . I just cant concieve that a full rupture would heal any better and just leave no mark .
Having said that , clubs do expensive medicals and seem to take your view. Personally i think a player must lose something even if he doesnt catastrophically break down.

In my expert opinion your achilles is never right after snapping it.

I think it depends. You’re right - clubs do expensive medicals it certainly doesn’t seem to be a case of dismissing any player who’s ever had a full rupture. (As the fee paid for RS proved!(.

Looks like they may have been wrong mind , unless its all in his head , which can also happen when they subconsciously dont trust the body

Or it’s been that and other injuries / time out.

I don’t think the problems he’s faced recently have been with his Achilles.

What makes you an expert?

As mentioned, I had a full rupture (and developed a serious blood clot around the injury which actually hospitalised me) but that was coming up 4 years ago and I’ve never had a moment’s bother with it since completing my recovery (as my doctor advised me).

No regrets either side , he scored loads of goals for us and we got a half decent price for him given the circumstances. He got a very good contract which will set him up for life before his inevitable release and and a return to Bonnie Scotland at the end of it.

Ive snapped mine twice, then the scar tissue that had built up around the surgery decided it would burst through my skin leaving a hole the size of a 2 pound coin. So I had an operation to clear it out and tidy it up, that went tits up and the stitches fell apart leaving me with open wounds on the back of my achilles, the op was over a year ago and I still have some open bits. I wear a dressing and compression stocking to keep it all together.

From the original rupture 25 years ago I could never jump for a header off my right foot. Had no power in my leg.

So that 😁

I’m sad to hear that, but I was only responding to the earlier point claiming that an Achilles rupture would always leave a players carrying after effects.

Technology has moved on since your first injury.

It’s now more common for a full ruptures to be treated with a dynamic boot rather than surgery, not least to avoid the problems you faced.

I think it just proved that each injury is particular to that individual, just because one person recovers fully doesnt mean another will.

Exactly.

All I was saying was that the earlier statement “If you do your Achilles like that you'll always 'carry an injury'” is not necessarily true.

Thank you for agreeing.
