Root steps down

Well it’s not seperate debates though it’s the same point really

They didn’t fancy him but it didn’t work

Best bowler in India then he didn’t play again till Brisbane
I think that’s it with Leach, wickets were turning square in India and given nothing to the seamers so it was inevitable any spinner on a side would be the best bowler for their side in that series.

The two Indian spinners were by far their best bowlers in that series too.

Similar he got picked on the back of Taunton producing big turning wickets, not even sure he would have picked for England in the first place if played for different county.

Might be a bit unfair here but when wicket not big turners find him very ineffective.

Furthermore I think the England set up feel that too hence the reason did him not playing as much.

But when he played in England he did well and averaged 25

That doesn’t fit in with your point

The England set up as been useless though they thought picking 5 right arm seamers was correct and then won 1 in 17 test matches

Well yes I agree to a certain extent with your last point.

But I think it’s fair to say it has been our batting performances that has been the main reason for winning only 1 test in that period not the selection of the bowlers.

I think if they thought we have a half decent spinner they would have not done that and picked that spinner.

They obviously don’t rate him it’s difficult to disagree with that surely?
Again all about opinions but them seeing him close up is that more of a gauge than him doing okish in a series 3 years ago!

Root resigns Thursday, Key announced as MD on Sunday. Has to be more than coincidence. He's had months to resign and suddenly went when we're about to appoint an MD who thought Jos Buttler should be captain and Broad and Anderson should be back in.
