2010 - 2022*Barry Bannon 2020 - 2022
Jimmy Greaves, Duncan Edwards and Vic Halom for starters.Has there been an English player better than WazRo was during this period?
Aye, all definitely better than Rooney at their peak.Individual seasons given their respective clubs has to go to Andy Johnson or Dean Ashton.
Zamora, Carlton Cole and Theo Walcott deserve special mentions too.
Lastly, Shaun Wright Phillips. Criminally underrated.
Rickie Lambert 2009-2012
Danny Graham 2012-2015Barry Bannon 2020 - 2022
Where did I say that? Nobody beats peak Rooney.Aye, all definitely better than Rooney at their peak.
Best striker in the world right nowKane 2023-2026
Medicine ball menJimmy Greaves, Duncan Edwards and Vic Halom for starters.
Peak Henry and Suarez (in a one off season) were something else.Rooney at Euro 2004 was ridiculous. Not sure I’ve seen better
Gascoigne around 1995-1996.Has there been an English player better than WazRo was during this period?
It’s kinda the whole question in the op mateWhere did I say that? Nobody beats peak Rooney.
This, comfortably.Kane 2023-2026
Those English lads....Peak Henry and Suarez (in a one off season) were something else.
Rooney a better footballer in 2004 than Shearer ever was, although as a striker for Blackburn he was absolutely fantastic.Gascoigne around 1995-1996.
Shearer in his Blackburn years.
Aye, all definitely better than Rooney at their peak.
Rooney was also going to go downhill earlier as he was like a proper gadgie at 14. So what made him stand out earlier also worked against him in terms of longevity.I remember my Year 6 teacher saying a youngster called Wayne Rooney is the future. Then seeing him play was magic.
Genuinely thought he was going to be the key to England winning something. It just never happened.
I also don’t believe any suggestions that if he went down a more regimented, sport science route that he would have been better. He was a great footballer who loved the beer, loved the grannies and that was it.
Nah. Stats maybe so though. 2004 was peak Rooney.Suggesting 16, 17 and 18 year old (Everton and first Utd season) Rooney was his peak is absurd. From is second season onward to about 2009/10 was his peak and I don’t think many can come close if him honest, no.
I'd go with that.Rooney at Euro 2004 was ridiculous. Not sure I’ve seen better
