Romain Mundle

He wasn't though. Both him and Roberts were thrown into a shit unorganised mess with no match fitness. When Neil came in and organised the side and the side began to gain confidence they were more frequently introduced and began to win us games.

Clarke was outstanding late in that season and i was amazed by his fitness and ability to run at sides winning us goals and pens late in games. Initially he'd looked soft as shite and we werent sure where or hoe to pkay him , but it was becoming abundantly clear he was a level or two above.

Whilst it was a bit bizarre leaving him out of the final, it was probably done for a couple of reasons. One being Embleton had been excellent against Wycombe earlier that season (dud he assist two)) and two Clarke was really hurting teams running at them later on, so bringing him on when Wycombe were tiring on that pitch was always likely.
The summer we signed him there was still some on here who wouldn't have took him.
I was amazed we got him permanently

Mundle looks like a good prospect…very strong, fast and has good feet. I think he needs a confidence boost that would come from a run of games and beating players so, transfers permitting, a short term loan to a league one or two team until January might be an idea. If he bosses it at another level I’d be hopeful that he’d be ready for us

Mundle, Ba, Hemir, Bennette, Mayenda, Triantis, Lihadji when he was at the club ….

They all might come good at some unspecified date in the future. The problem is none of them look remotely ready to play a good portion of a championship level season.

We need a core of players who can be relied upon to provide a consistent level of performance at the level we’re at (or above in a perfect world) and then one or two of the more ‘raw’ prospects can be dropped in now and then to gradually gain experience.

We’ve asked the likes of Ba, Hemir etc to do far too much too early and they’ve suffered as a result (as have we watching them struggle).

That's great in an ideal world but how do you get a core who can be relied upon to provide a consistent level of performance?

Exactly what type of players is that you are referring to?

Players with a history of consistently high performance at this level. e.g. Alan Browne

Hopefully we’ll see this summer. Picking up the likes of Willock on a free from QPR would be a start. Then a central midfield player to replace Evans and whisper it quietly a couple of forwards for whom playing championship football isn’t a complete surprise.

I’ve got high hopes for Mundle. Very raw, but he looks like he actually enjoys tracking back and getting stuck in, which is a huge plus for a winger. Seen flashes of quality from him too. Some strong coaching and a confidence boost in pre-season and I think he could be very useful indeed.

Mundle doesn't seem to have a way to beat his man. Perhaps a confidence thing, but not a good trait for a winger.

This. Irresponsible player management. DOF is clueless.

To be fair to Ba he has out performed some of the more senior players. Hemir and Mayenda should be out on loan/playing u23s, or potential 3rd 4th choice.

Me too. His contract length probably played a part in that - for once Spurs were a bit stuck. After a couple of average loans and a good one here they kinda had to strike the best deal to move him on or give him a new improved deal. We benefitted.

We could do with a few more like that and Ballard.

Some of our so called supporters are too quick to judge, especially of the young lads.

Remember when Corry Evans first signed, he looked like he'd never kicked a ball until Johnson got sacked and Alex Neil came in. And that was from a seasoned pro

Hume took a while to get going. Pretty much a year. Roberts and Clarke weren't exactly outstanding in L1, their first 6 months at the club.

Just give the lads a bit tike to bed in and find their feet
Exactly this.
