I always put Sunderland, County Durham.I think it's a bit like those who still put Sunderland, Co Durham as their address.
I still do when sending the family cards etc! Old habits die hard!

NEwcastle. SR stands for SundeRland and DH stands for DurHam etc......What stands for North East then?
Newcastle doesn't stand for North East though.NEwcastle. SR stands for SundeRland and DH stands for DurHam etc......
That's why NE1 is in the centre of Newcastle and SR1 is in the centre of Sunderland, etc.......
Sorry no idea what you're on about. There is no North East in the post code system. Only certain towns and cities.Newcastle doesn't stand for North East though.
Well bugger me! Newcastle must be bloody massive then if it extends as far as Kielder and Haltwhistle! Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember when Postcodes were first introduced, and they definitely said NE was North East. Sorry if that bursts some bubbles amongst the emotionally fragile LOLSorry no idea what you're on about. There is no North East in the post code system. Only certain towns and cities.

Based on old sorting officesPostcodes are just Royal Mails way of dividing the country up into locations so mail gets to the right place. NE is for Newcastle, SR Sunderland, DH Durham, DL Darlington etc
Wrong, wrong and wrong again.Well bugger me! Newcastle must be bloody massive then if it extends as far as Kielder and Haltwhistle! Really! What's Roker/Seaburn like on a night generally? Sort of place you wouldn't venture out or is there still stuff going on? Even in the winter months?
Both very busy on a Saturday night. Can’t speak as much for Fridays. Likes of The Stack bouncing, and Roker Hotel (Poetic Licence) always had a few in when I’ve been over late on.What's Roker/Seaburn like on a night generally?
