That's his goalkeeping style. He's not so much one for the lightning reaction stop, he just makes his body into the most awkward shape to get the ball past and let's it hit him.

Hes got the best positioning of a goalkeeper we've had for years. Im not sure ive seen a Sunderland keeper with better.

You're spot on, if he didn't set himself firmly it just hits him and goes in, he has to be big and strong and react quick enough for all that, which he does. Instinctive doesn't make it pedestrian as some people here seem to be suggesting.

To be fair if you blasted it in the garden it would have went in it she didn’t move her shoulder.

It’s helped change the movement of the ball. If he doesn’t move it it doesn’t bounce that direction.

Yes, having looked at it closely, he definitely reacted quickly and it was a great save rather than the ball luckily striking him in the right area.
