Rochdale home attendance

Rochdale fan in peace.

I think you're right in saying this is our biggest game of the season. With Oldham and Bury both being relegated last season (such a shame), we have no derbies to look forward to and so a trip to a proper Premier League ground that we've never played at before is an exciting one. I suspect our eventual total will be at around 1,000 which as some have pointed out, is about a third of our home support (we usually get gates of about 2.8k home fans, with the average attendance bumped up significantly by away fans from the bigger clubs we face at this level).

There was a stat somewhere that we actually have the highest percentage of home fans that travel to away games in the Football League. We may number few at home games, perhaps understandably when you consider that two of the biggest clubs in the country sit on our doorstep, we do travel in relatively decent numbers and especially for big games like this one. The fact you are still getting crowds of around 30,000 at this level is frightening and shows what a big club you are.

On a personal note I'm looking forward to this one especially as I spent three years in Sunderland for Uni and loved the place. I've booked a couple of nights and will be taking full advantage of the chance to revisit a few old haunts. During my time in the North East SAFC were a Premier League club and I loved the buzz on the big matchdays in the City. I genuinely hope you get back there soon enough because you've been through enough I reckon in the last few years. I'm not sure if it will be this season, but it won't take long til you're on your way back.

I reckon we can nick a point. I'd take that all day. Up the Dale!
Have a good day mate
Barring the result obviously

Great post, and glad our city made a good impression in your Uni days up here

25600 sold to date, plus close to 1k Rochdale fans, I reckon we can get 29k.

He was a big fan of the worm in our days, nearly keeled over when he found out that it’s not a spoons anymore

And the worm despite the 2 mile trek to the bogs!

Ha, I'll jump back on before the home fixture and give you the lowdown but worth remembering The Flying Horse in the centre and The Cemetery nearer to the ground.

It's a trap.......I saw what happened to homeless Sean down the road in Weatherfield when he went to The Cemetery...robbed of all his money!

However there was a loyal Rochdale fan at my school in Accrington...good on him for not supporting Man U or Liverpool at a time when plenty of plastic fans at my school did

This can’t be right, non Sunderland folk loving our city.

Newcastle fans have us believe that this is not possible. Jim Branning being one of them.

Fair play to the lad for coming up here to study and enjoying it.

Cracking post mate. Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Well, not too fantastic :)

As a student I couldn't really argue with the £2 treble vodkas in Gatsbys ha. Pub-wise I always enjoyed the Ivy House and the Dun Cow so will definitely be heading to both of those.

When were you at uni? The Dun Cow's been refurbed lately. The upstairs bar is now a restaurant, but the old bar in the downstairs room has been beautifully renovated. Does a wider range of beers than when it was either S&N or Camerons, and is still a pretty much permanent fixture in the GBG - it's in the recently published 2019 edition.

The dun cow is a good little pub now, although recently the beer selection is not as good as it used to be. The Isis does great beer near by there, and I've been wanting to try bonded warehouse for a while too, looks good beer there

They were selling some decent stuff in the converted Fire Station when I was there before the Oxford game too.
