Can you imagine the abuse we'd be getting from Newcastle fans if we'd signed the "relegation specialist"?

He'd be "shite". Now he's good because he allegedly turned us down.
 
It had looked like we were in for someone a lot more experienced with the names mentioned, but I'm guessing the fees involved were too high when there's still work to be done on bringing in more new players.

It'll be interesting to see how he takes to the PL after only one full season, but the recruitment team may have just pulled a blinder in getting big Robin.
 
By all accounts one of the best young goalkeeper prospects, small fee and gives us much needed competition for a crucial position for a relatively small fee.

Far happier with this than spending £25 million (and probably 3-4x the wage) on Ramsdale.

It's a big upgrade on just Patterson with no risk of ever losing his place in the side. I suspect Patto will start against West Ham, but any drop in form and this lad will get his chance.

That's some very impressive stats for a 22 year old keeper playing at a decent level.

Looking at that, I knew Patto had a bad season last year and his stats were poor, but hadn't realised just how bad his underlying data was. Clearly there was no way we could go into the season with him and Simon Moore as our only option.
