Rob Lee on safc support

Club with larger catchment area pulls in a few thousand more fans than club with smaller catchment area. Don’t need to be Einstein to work out the reason for that.

As others have mentioned though, it’s quality not quantity that counts.

Michael Gray and Rob Lee have been ‘debating’ the fanbases of both Newcastle United and Sunderland.

The two former players asked who has the best/biggest support.

The schoolyard discussion taking place on Talksport.

Not surprisingly, the pair had differing views

There is no comparison (between Newcastle and Sunderland fanbases).
“None at all.
In my opinion, yes (Newcastle’s is bigger by a ‘country mile’).

didnt he used to rent space.... in sheeras arse??

They're not really going to say the other side has better fans are they?

Newcastle clearly have more fans as well. They're not doing particularly well and still get more in than we do/did at a similar level. Every club's going to say they have better fans but to be honest, it's a pretty boring debate. It only ever seems to be the mags who care about attendances because that's all they're doing well in.

It’s pathetic. ‘There’s no comparison’ say two people sat there making a comparison.

Only one set of fans likes to try and get games abandoned by invading the pitch when they're losing
They even predicted they'd lose the Wigan game later that day so invaded a local amateur team beforehand :lol:

What is the criteria regarding who's fans are the best?
Average attendances prove which teams have the most fans. Historically the mugs's average attendances have generally been better than hours. Chucking in the odd high or low attendance for a single game doesn't really tell us much. Our current average attendance is remarkable considering what we've had to put up with in the last couple of seasons. Both clubs have excellent support, and more than most. At the end of the day it's banter between fans of two local clubs. They shout from the rooftops about having more fans than us and we would do the same.
