Never been to keen on The Police, but just listened to this...

Edge of Seventeen's a miles better song like. Miles better. Country miles.
I first became aware of Werewolves of London when local act Jonny Boyle would mash the two together at buskers evenings. This was before the Kid Rock song came out.
Good turn Jonny Boyle like.
Plant explained in an interview with :
Came across this song on Yellowstone which sounds very similar to Wake Me Up by Avicii & Aloe Blacc...
Now that's a rip-off.

I had heard something about the Police, but I didn't know what they were talking about. Then about two years ago, I had the radio on, and on comes what sounds like "Edge of Seventeen" – and all of a sudden, there's voice! I thought, 'We ripped them off completely!' I called Stevie that night and said, 'Listen to me, don't ever do that again!'"

Get in, it's Warren Zevon

But then, surely both are just sweet home Alabama?
Rock doesn't even try to hide it.

If owt was lifted, it was lyrics and melodies. The riffs were all Page.Insert everything by Jimmy Page here.
Case in point. Robert's lifted the vocal, but the riff, the music, is all Page.
A very similar song written by Jimmy Page, probably with help from his 14 year old girlfriend.
Plant explained in an interview with :
Page's riff was Page's riff. It was there before anything else. I just thought, 'well, what am I going to sing?' That was it, a nick. Now happily paid for. At the time, there was a lot of conversation about what to do. It was decided that it was so far away in time and influence that ... well, you only get caught when you're successful. That's the game.
Some people haven't the foggiest how these things work.Tom Petty was my favourite. It was brought to his attention that someone had ripped off one of his songs. He gave it a listen and drawled, 'I probably stole it from Eddie Cochrane anyways',
.
Naaa - I'm not having that. Roy Bittan plays piano on both, and the similarities end there.
