Sad to report the passing of George Oliver an former player and umpire of the North East Durham League and new Durham & North East league.

A brilliantly fair umpire, great bloke and one of the friendliest you were likely to meet on the cricket pitch.

A massive loss to North East cricket!
 

I've known Geordie for nigh on 40 yrs.Played on the same footy team many moons ago.Loyal servant to Tantobie CC when his ability meant he could have played at a decent level.Dedicated umpire and a cracking bloke.
