RIP dad

RIP and so sorry for your loss, just hang on to the memories and the thought that this was one of our best seasons that he would have seen. By the way, no need to apologise, you’re among friends and family here. Thoughts with you and yours ❤️🤍❤️🤍

So my dad passed away at 1655 today. We knew it was likely to be today and I planned to watch my last game with him even though we would only be there in body. Whatever happened today I was going to tell him that Luke had just lashed a screamer into the top corner to win it and we've finished 7th and are in Europe.

So I had the game on the laptop and the lads did us proud - He was unconscious and sedated and passed peacefully. I hope he heard some of my dodgy commentary. This was our 50th year of following the lads together. What a milestone.

He told me he picked out Sunderland in a 1956 FA cup draw at school which lead him to follow them. I'm not sure that's true as his dad and grandparents were from Shildon and Canny Hill..Either way I'm glad he did and passed that down to me.

Joanne Youngson was amazing and got me some Heaven Branch grass clippings in 24 hours so he had those on his pillow this afternoon. Thank you so much Joanne.

Sorry for this post, I just wanted to share the news that another MLF has passed.

He won't be here next week for Chelsea but I'lll still run through the match report with him. Cancer sucks. Haway the dad x

My thoughts are with you at this sad time ! Cancer is the biggest bastard of them all but it sounds like your dad had a great life ,celebrate that and good luck to you and your family moving forward!

It's always devastating to lose a family member and a fan. Bruv and I are in Liverpool now - celebrating a lads win but wishing our mam was here to experience it with us. She died 8 months ago and while we know we were lucky, as (incredibly) she went to away games with us until she was 92, we would give anything for just 1 more match with her...

We were just talking today about the last match we attended with her.... and of course, at the time, we didn't know that that "was it."

Make the most of those you love while you have them. You never know when your last match together will be 💔.
