Rimmington

I was discussing the same thing with a bloke at Gosforth on Tuesday and he claimed Bancroft and Franklin want the young uns in the limited overs games.
If this is the case then as you say it would be right to move him on.

That's his main asset, limited overs stuff, was expensive but took loads of wickets in last year's T20. Doesn't look good for him if that's the thinking. IF Carse and Potts stay fit, can't see him getting many games.

Is he injured?

Seems so out of favour if not, wise move to just pay him off?

funnily enough was just mentioning him yesterday, how i'd totally forgot he existed.

reminded as a result of bunny scoring crucial runs against us and still being a very good cricket in the second year of the deal we didn't offer him. instead we gave 2 years to rimmington who has offered us very little.

Clearly a "jobs for the boys" signing last season, good friend of Colly. Quite astounding we signed him on a 2 year deal yet only offered Onions 1 year.

Rather carry on playing the youngsters and if necessary terminate his contract if an agreement can be reached

Two years, less than a year remaining. They would have to pay up the entirety so why not keep him around anyway. 1) he's effective with ball in the T20's. 2) you never know when you're going to get a cluster of injuries.

Clearly!

Said this last year... took up funds when young bowlers where getting fed peanuts... and still are.
Nowt to be saved now though.

Last year the club ran out of bowlers, brought in two on loan and gave one of those a contract (Salisbury).

Obviously, going from that alone the club didn't think youngsters could do enough and required more time.

Nah, Rimmington did a job. He's no Rushy but who is.

Jon Lewis, not the club....

Never the biggest fan of Lewis as a captain or coach but he was in charge of the 1st team overseeing a one day cup win at Lord's and a county championship pendent.
Also Cook must have seen something in his coaching qualities to originally put h in charge of the 2nds.
But whatever people's views of him are I do believe it was time for a shake up. Not sure about Franklin as he is probably just passing through but North is a good appointment. He is settled in the area and is not shooting of to Aussie for the winter and he knows the local cricket scene well having spent a fair bit of the last 15 years playing local club cricket.
