Twisted

Striker
From the Northern Echo;

.....by making 58. It was the highest score by a Durham No 3 this season, beating his own 41 at Liverpool.

so he got the top two scores by a number 3 batsman - if im right in thinking that he only played as number 3 twice that it canny impressive/embarrassing.

Do we think he will be our number 3 next year?

I think assuming we don't make any big investments he has certainly done enough. Unless Muchall gets his usual early season reprieve.

Rocky, Jennings, Richardson, Stokes is a very talented but very inexperienced top order

Richardson hasn't let anyone down at Durham and I've praised him a lot this season and last season. He's deserved more chances than he's been given and I really hope he stays at the club.

As mentioned in the Sussex thread, the rumours on Thursday were that he's rejected a 1 year contract. Just a case of watch this space to see what happens.

I'd be gutted if he left the club. Nice lad and a very good cricketer, his knock on Thursday was excellent and very mature.

quite surprising tbh that he was only offered a one year deal - perhaps that is why he has rejected it?

think he has shown great promise both with bat & gloves and equally would be gutted if he left, totally agree with what you've said, think he has deserved a full season in the side to see what he has

How old's Mustard now? Guess it's still a bit early to be looking a t a long term successor for him but it looks like Richardson's showed enough promise as a batsman alone to warrant a run in the side.

No news on Muchall as yet and whether he has been offered another contract. It'll be interesting too see what happens on that score.

If any county in Division 2 offers him a contract as a keeper he'll be away.

I know he's behind a very solid keeper/batsman in Mustard but do we feel he's good enough to hold down a place solely as a batsman? I feel he is, but I don't think the Durham board will think the same way for some reason.

born the same year as me, so whilst that might not make him young  ... he is still young for a cricketer, 30 in october.

i think richardson has shown as much promise as anyone this year, batting wise.

i think we have to wipe this years batting from our minds, with the exception of stoneman who finally showed the ability to turn his promise into scores, and let richardson & jennings have a whole season in the first team and let them show what they have got

Richardson is more than capable of holding down a place solely as a batsman. He deserves a 2 year contract and it would be a massive shame if he was to leave Durham. The club need to sort this out, they were happy paying ridiculous money to some players, happy to give Claydon a 2 year contract, so hopefully they give Richardson what he deserves.

I like Richardson, he's a good lad and a good cricketer. But if Durham sign the top class batsman they are hoping to get for next year where does that leave Richardson?

He's not good enough to oust Mustard from the keepers spot, and there wouldn't be a place in the side purely as a batsman.

If you take the side that beat Sussex and add the "new" opener, that makes 12 for 11 places, Jennings won't be dropped as the club see him as a vital part of the future, so he will take the number 3 spot, the bowling unit has worked miracles in the last half of the season and they won't be mucked about with for the start of next season.

A.N.Other
Stoneman
Jennings
Stokes
Benkenstein
Collingwood
Mustard
Borthwick
Thorp
Onions
Rushworth

And Smith and Muchall will also be looking for a place.

So, as good a player as Richardson is, he won't keep his place as a batsman alone, and perhaps that's why the club have only offered him a one year deal?

could be a possible move for him
