No. I offered before I left and I was happy to do it. I’ve had fantastic support from my manager over the years and without her I would have walked quite a few years ago. I honestly couldn’t have retired when I did without her support and the salary bump she got me.
53How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

I can see how that is nice. I went into my old work a while back for a leaving do, around 2 years after I had left. They were puzzling over a network problem and deep in conversation. I knew the solution and still remembered that a certain set of network addresses were routed in a different way and where that documentation was. I put them on the right track, smiled thinking yep, still got it, then left them to carry it out, and no bullshit meetings were involved.7 weeks retired today. I love it. Got my lumper this week and we’ve shoved it into cash isas and the wife’s fixed rate bank accounts (she doesn’t pay tax). We don’t want any risk and the plan is take out a chunk every year for the next 12 years or so until the state pension kicks in.
I’ve been in to work for a day to help them out a little and I’ve answered queries via text and email, which I’m happy to do, but I don’t miss it one little bit. In fact, when I left after going in to help out I felt a rush as if I was retiring all over again. It was like a retirement validation.
Did you have any hobbies and interests before you quit?
Married couple in there 70s with full oap and no private pension will get £520 per week approx
How can they manage with rent /morgage council tax utility bills insurance household upkeep and food with no luxurious
yeah hopefully enough to just get byHardly anyone that age will have a mortgage to pay. Those without a mortgage should be fine.
Want an itinerary knocking up?
Aye. Did my full 30 years, could have stayed on but it didn’t make financial sense. Not only would I be paying 500 quid a month into the shite new scheme I’d be working full time for 800 quid a month. May as well get another job and get paid twice. Was it your choice to go or did you have to? Fireman werent you iirc?
Yes but they involve people who are working full time, camping, hiking gigs and stuff. Plus I know a few lads who were going to live on the golf course when they retired. They didn’t last 2 minutes before getting up everyday to do their hobby became a chore.Did you have any hobbies and interests before you quit?
Should be fine. Circa £30pw gas/electric £8 water, £4 home insurance, £40 council tax, then the rest is there for them to spend on whatever they need.yeah hopefully enough to just get by
Think it's going to be nearer £480, they may well get by but it's when the big ticket items come up that they could struggle, also when the inevitable happens and one passes then it will be a struggle.Married couple in there 70s with full oap and no private pension will get £520 per week approx

That’s good mate however the rents 600 monthSeems fine to me. My bills are around £500 a month. Another £100 a week on groceries leaves £1k a month for nights out, football, clothes, holidays etc.
