Sadly, the time has come for my Mother to be admitted in to the above - dementia taken too strong a hold now

Can anyone recommend one please - must be top notch.

Cheers

Feel for you mate my mam is spiralling downhill at a rate lately
She’s still at home (just) but it’s taking its toll on my dad now so it’s imminent she’ll be needing a care home

My mother in law was in Bryony Park. Sadly only for two weeks as she passed away there. During that short time the staff were very good and she seemed very relaxed and happy. She wasn’t in the dementia ward though so can’t comment on that aspect.

Another shout for Bryony Park.
My FIL was in there in 2010-2011 with dementia and was a really good home then.
My mate is in there now n was visiting not long ago n it’s the same owners n the daughter of the person I know in there says it’s still very good.

Sorry to hear your sad news marra.
@gluepot had good things to say about Falstone on the Sea front to me. I use one in Boldon for respite and it is very good although not as specialised Alzheimer`s activities as some--Mate`s partner is in one in Jarrow which I am yet to visit that He speaks highly of.
Your Admiral Nurse should be able to give You a full list and may advise on specific ones they have had dealings with.

Marigold has an outstanding CQC rating. Sycamore Lodge is very good too

Mother-in-law was really well looked after in Sycamore Lodge in the two times she was there, both when she was mobile and in recovery from prolonged hospital stay, and then when she went back there after a stroke and was bedridden and became end of life. Early stage dementia across that period too.

There's one next to Roker Park name escapes me. They looked after my Mother fantastically and she came home after 8 weeks and hasn't looked back.
Could be Falstone if it's on the seafront, or Glenholme if on Park Road.

Well remembered heroes. It was a few years ago when my Dad was there, but the staff were lovely. Q

My mother was in Sycamore lodge although it was a lot of years ago and very well looked after, it must be decent if others above are recommending it still.

Depends what her needs are
Residential only or Residential and Nursing ?
We received a list from the social worker with the choices and availability at the time.
It also had the costs, wasn’t aware but some care homes have a top up fee which the family could be liable for if the person fails to pay the initial cost, or the person could be moved out to another home.
These are usually the best homes that are mentioned above by others.
Hope it works out

Avoid Thornbury care , blatantly under staffed

Sorry to hear about your man btw , I know a nurse recommended one in Farringdon but can’t remember the name now

My Mam (97) has been in Cheviot Court in Shields for the last 2 years - carers there are top notch so I’m really happy that she will end her days there
