Reserve games back in the day

Remember the days we would get like 30,000+ for a reserve game? I seem to remember a game against Liverpool and I think proctor scored for us, and they fielded Mcmanaman. That's all I remember, random thought of the day!!

Saw Nunez play against I think Man Utd at the SOL, I'm sure there was a canny crowd there, I'll have only been quite young so can't remember the number. IIRC he got absolutely lifted by a tackle from one of their players

Pretty sure I was there anarl, would of been about 2000 wouldn't it? Rings a bell.

Used to go back in the Roker Park days. Think it was called the Northern Intermediate league or something. Felt like we played Rotherham and Doncaster every other week, 200 or so used to turn up.

Sounds quite grim, bit like what the "reserves" are now really. Nout like the days under reidy.

North Regional wasn’t it, we couldn’t get in the Central League because the mags voted against us getting in every year.
