From personal experience after a fellow ‘fan’ racially abused a family member of mine, the immediate response of the stewards was very good. Took us away, asked what happened and then the offender was arrested by the police.

The club made initial contact, opened a case, got told ‘they’d come back to us’ and never heard anything more after that. This was in the League One years, so would like to think the staff management after the fact is a bit better now.
I don’t believe they have got better. At least not the season before last. Called out a racist who shouted black c***. Asked him to pack it in. He just laughed so reported him to steward. Initial response correct. Witness statements taken and he was arrested. Aftermath not good. Me and family abused - called grass etc. Told I better be scared. Doesn’t bother me because I don’t care what racists think but not good for my sons and other family members . Raised concerns with club. Zero response until I contacted Kick it Out. My recommendation - unless you fancy facing it down every week - is report it to kick it out after taking the details. Other fans will generally back you up with witness statements.

Sad to hear that things haven’t improved since my experience.

In todays world it’s madness that a business of that size can allow takes like these to even happen.

What that bloke said that day should have left him with a stadium ban, I was informed he and his party were moved to avoid any follow up at future games (I’m assuming he was also a ST holder). Just kicking the can down the road rather than solving the actual issue.

In my case - it was me who had to move - the club were happy to facilitate that after confirming the abuse directed at subsequent games to me and my family. I knew that was wrong but it had reached the point of doing that or every game being a fight. Did feel completely let down.

Ended up in a bit of a scuffle at a game champ relegation season in east stand after telling two blokes to pack it in. Club done nowt.

I hear stuff fairly often but don’t bother now. Last time I reported something to Steve Neil he had turned his emails off. I’m not going to do his job for him.
If this is true it's canny shocking & sounds like the next appropriate step would be to report the club's lack of action to [email protected]

Yeah..not on for me. We got the option, my family member who got abused refused to move and tbh it should never have been on the table as they were the victim. We were fortunate enough to not be on the end of the shite it sounds like you were.

Hope it all came to an end sharpish for you and there was no follow up from anyone.
