Regis Le Bris

Reckon that wasn't realistic at the start of the season. Forest finished 7th last season on 65 points, that was the last European place; Brighton missed out on Europe with 61 points; Palace finished 12th with 53 points.

This season feels like an unusually low points tally to finish even 5th and in the Champions League let alone the places below. Liverpool are currently 5th and have 59 points. We've got lucky with the points tallies this season and even Leeds are sat on 47 points.

50 points about par performance for this season I reckon based on the quality of the players we have but give him credit for the fact the team were derailed due to AFCON.

I don't think he's got the players there to be looking at say 60 points a season which could get you into the Europa League most seasons. Not far off though. Needs to keep hold of our best players and bring in two very good creative players who will get us playing farther up the pitch for more of the match. Get those players and keep our best players and it's a very good team.

There are a few questions with Le Bris however: why doesn't he give a genuine winger such as Talbi a run of matches, why does he at times play players out of position when there is a capable player to play in that position which is his natural position, why do we create so little.

I reckon he's earned the right to answer those questions next season no matter where we finish and what happens this season. If the club gets the right couple of players in the summer and we still set up conservatively and are unable to create much, then there is no excuse. As it stands however, I reckon he's set up to play to the strengths of the players he has at his disposal given our better players are generally keeper, back four, Xhaka, Sadiki, Brobbey. We'll see. Hopefully he gets the players he needs and he proves that he was just missing that bit of quality going forward this season.
Despite the pessimism/trepidation etc AFCON didnt really hurt us points wise
Diarra who started well had been out for weeks prior so was no miss
Sadiki and Traore were the only ‘regulars’ and the latter wasnt à huge miss
Our nervy periods were when Xhaka was missing
Imo Hume and Angula shouldnt of started yesterday.
Still perplexed that Rigg doesn’t start every game
I’m genuinely, seriously waiting for some idiot to tell me he should go. Beale anyone? Remember where we’ve been. Please.
Just because we theoretically got rid of RLB doesnt mean we theoretically get another Beale.
Mowbray had run his course and it was clear he sorely missed not having Amad at his disposal ( à big miss for any team in that league).
Mowbray was old school, he knew what he was walking into vis a vis Speakman, but he still decided he didn’t want it.
If, in the very unlikely event RLB were to go, I have no doubt FG would have plenty of capable replacements in mind in his little black book

He had to start the season with the mindset of defensive rigour and desire for clean sheets. Palace away set the standard for me despite only a point. Knew then we would fight hard to survive. The transition comes now. Hard working team changing to a more attack minded outfit. Keep core values but load with more talented forward players. An example would be at left back. Reinildo is excellent at the back but rather ordinary going forward. Need upgrades but won't be easy. Let's see who comes and then we might get some wonderful surprises.

Aye I’d argue that one of the (low level) concerns I have about Reg is his lack of rotation and squad use.

It’s a risk aversion thing IMO. Playing almost a 5-3-2 in away games and against the better teams is part of Reg making sure that we’re tough to beat. Maybe he errs on the side of caution there a bit. Also it’s a trust thing, too. He plays the players he trusts - and that means compromise elsewhere.
I like your thinking but down at Everton on Sunday watching Hume was like watching a pissed person trying to find his mates in a busy pub - where am I and where are they!
