Regis le Bris - confirmed

We identified that we needed to sign a striker, we signed 2, granted one didn’t work out.

We identified we needed depth in centre midfield, so we signed one.

We identified we needed depth on the right wing, so we signed one, aye he’s a waste of space but you can’t blame the club for his attitude.

We identified we needed cover for goalkeeper and signed one.

Only thing I’d have changed from the summer is a permanent CB, but the Mepham loan has been great, just a shame it’s only a loan. I’d have also added full back cover.

Also if you add to that, Le Bris clearly chose Le Fee given their history and the club backed him in a way that if we go up then he’s a permanent too because we wouldn’t have been able to afford him in this league. January was a shocking window on the whole though.

If the club did just want to cash in and were only in it for the money etc. then they would have accepted Brighton’s bid for Watson in January instead of accepting £3m less to hold onto him in the summer. Just because we haven’t spent massive sums of money like the parachute payment clubs, doesn’t mean they aren’t willing to back the manager.
You can say "we identified we needed X" for every signing we ever make.

Nobody is saying we should splash the cash equivalent to parachute payments but as I said before, signing backups and punts for the future is backing the manager in the very loosest sense of the term.

So do you disagree that we needed a GK, CM and a striker then? Did the club not identify that they needed to improve the squad in these positions, and did the club not do that?

Yes or no?

It was, wouldn’t disagree.

Moore (everyone said we needed cover)
Browne (CM cover)
Isidor (granted wasn’t triggered until January but was part of the squad)
Poveda (waste of space tbf, but that’s more on him I think)
Blondy (probably only signed so we could loan out Young to develop him)
Connolly (didn’t work out but we needed striker cover)
Aleksic and Abdullahi (youth players to develop)

Honestly don’t think it was a bad summer window, January was tragic though.
So we didn't sign anyone to improve the team then did we?

A couple of cover players, punts for the future and a shit signing. Hardly a massive show of ambition was it? It was the minimum what was required. Nothing more.

When you factor in we sold our best, most saleable player and then Isidor walked in the following day then it wasnt exactly great.

A couple of punts for the future too.

To a degree it transpired we didn't need a lot more at that point. But given we had several months to look at it and add that bit of quality or cover to it, January was another shit show from them, probably blighted by some of the contracts we're handing out to injured players and those we are trying to move out.

Of course we did, we signed a striker with 12 goals (4x more than all of our strikers last season), a central midfielder who’s played well when called on, a stronger second choice goalkeeper than we had last season.

Not only has our starting 11 improved from last season, our options from the bench have too and anyone who disagrees with that is just doing it because they have an agenda against the board imo.

People just moan for the sake of it man

Cue the near 3 month long mega thread where another list of about 12 candidates is interviewed, all turning us down except one obscure name who promises to get us promoted then can’t. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before
Or if we haven’t heard this one before even? I don’t remember RLB promising to get us promoted.

Don’t get me wrong if we don’t win the playoffs I will look back at it as an opportunity missed, but for me it’s an opportunity that I didn’t expect to have had anyway and I’m happy with a playoff finish, the last couple of months aside anyway.

Please quote where I've said entitled. We are however one of the bugger clubs in the country with infrastructure and fan base to support premier league football. If we punch to our weight we're a prem side, as you agree, we were a prem side nit that long ago, for a decade too.

Oh really. I called Beale, I've also said thos lot don't want promotion. They've proven me right. The striker issue I could go on and on. You've just been a cheerleader for mediocrity

At every point when they've been asked to stand up and show they mean business they've been found lacking. No credible coach would want to work with this lot fir any length of time.
Yes, we are a bugger of a club.

Come off it man.
Browne
Blondy
Poveda
Abdullahi
Moore
Conolly
Alecksic
Samed
None of them improved the team.

I'll give you Isidor.
No agenda here but to say our summer signings improved the team is nonsense.

I think fans are going to have to get used to transfers not always working straight away. Even the summer before our biggest signing was Jobe and despite him having a decent 1st season weve really seen the best of him this season. Mayenda as well.

Hopefully the same with Aleksic and Abdullahi
