Regis le Bris - confirmed

The starting point was to have an efficient team. The raison d'être of a system is its results, what it produces. So we need to be efficient as quickly as possible. To achieve this, we began by designing our project a round a very strong defence, allowing us to protect our goal and create transitional situations. Most of the content was built around this, then once it was we were able to work more on our attacking phases, which require more fluidity and longer periods of time.

Another bit from it, guess that's how we'll set up initially.

Sounds good in theory, but doesn’t explain how they conceded more goals than they scored in actual figures.

Just an opinion here...he is a yes man...
KLD and Speakman aren't fooling anybody....I utterly love my club for 47 years..but i/we have heard it all before..
I'm too long in the tooth to hear bullshite!!...its becoming tiresome!!
I think any coach coming in without their own staff (if that happens) will be a Yes Man to a point. The owner has underestimated the fans and the club and it has backfired to the point when anything he does will be questioned. Hopefully this will be one of his better decisions.

I’ve already wished him well and I mean it. But I suspect his appointment is more to do with developing young players to sell for the benefit of KLD and Speakman than it is to do with us helping us gain promotion.

it was the speed of our transition that had us finishing 6th.....but then we had Amad and roberts firing

Sold their best striker (Moffi) and their best playmaker (Ouattra).

As long as the team has a culture and is active, I don't have a problem with the difficulty. What I don't like I don't like the feeling that we don't share much. You can win or lose the match, but to see my team without soul, without synchronization, without a guide running through it, it's very frustrating.

The match against Angers (0-0, early February) has been horrible in that respect. I know it's linked to what we went through during the winter transfer window. Frankly, I'd prefer it if it didn't exist, but when I started the season, I wasn't faced with a blank sheet of paper. I knew the situation: there was Mediapro, the Covid... And then I was told that the coffers were empty.

During the summer window , we already hadn't been able to recruit very much, and we sold Armand Laurienté very late in the process. we knew we had to make a major sale. We also found ourselves at the confluence of two elements: our economic reality and a form of overperformance. 20 million euros for Terem Moffi and 27 for Dango Ouattara, you can't say no. Hard work is rewarded in financial terms, but in sporting terms, it has an impact and inevitably blurs the culture we've built up.

You could create this culture elsewhere than in Lorient?

I hope I'll be able to, because I want to travel. I don't know when, but when you can, you have to choose a framework in which you can express yourself. What's important is the way the club's project is set out: its direction, its management, its recruitment unit, its sporting direction, the place given to the coach...

Very Big Sam. Get the defensive side sorted first, get solid, and then add the fancy stuff. Exactly how he got us out of the brown and smelly.

I wouldn't hold your breath...I think this decision smacks of panic..if everyone for a second just puts thier sensible heads on...they would admit this is an horrendous decision....I get people want to grasp to positives...personally I think its utter panic.!!

So you think he’s a gamble but you call anyone who’s underwhelmed or concerned an “idiot”.

I’m behind him, he’s got my full support but what a patronising post. Sorry

There is a difference between people who are concerned and the idiot posts. I do have my reservations but I will give him my full support.

Sunderland Football club is a Lamborghini with an Austin Montego Engine with the new gaffer at the wheel. Until the Engine is replaced with a one that belongs, I fear that the driver is going to struggle to get going how he would like.

Well if you are only going to criticise when you know everything that’s going on you probably aren’t going to be critical very often.
I’m not sure how they could have made it much more obvious they didn’t have a succession plan than what they did, short of issuing a press release admitting it.
Very few people know the ins and outs of this appointment. Most, if not all fans have any idea if this is a good appointment are not.
