I've heard on the grapevine that the regionalisation of junior cricket in Durham may come about next year rather than 2014 and that there will be a meeting about it this month. A few issues strike me here:

1. How many divisions will there be
2. Who will be in each division
3. Will pairs cricket go the distance, given that clubs like say Washington dont play it and I cant imagine they will be overly keen to introduce it
4. How will this effect the end of season DCB competition, if at all
5. If they abolish pairs cricket in Durham then the NEPL junior competition would be out of step with it.

I could guess at part of the make up of the North Durham division:

Durham City, CLS, Kimblesworth, Burnmoor, Washington, Sacriston, Beamish, Philadelphia (if they are still operating next season) but 8 teams wouldnt be enough. I wonder if say Tudhoe or Lanchester might go in that league or even say Langley Park.

Any thoughts on the above?

Why no mention of Brandon who have decent sides at all levels

Not sure.

I was given an impression that the likes of Eppleton and Hetton Lyons wouldnt be in the North Durham group and I was also given an impression that the people sorting this out had a decision to make about the Wearside teams.

I could be wrong but by my reckoning the biggest headache is as you say that area of the County where there are stacks of teams going down to places like Seaham, Dawdon, Castle Eden and Peterlee.

Perhaps they will all be in an East League and a South League.

It'll be interesting too see how it is divided up but already its looking like the division with Durham City in will be very strong.

Final thing is what happens to pairs cricket. I just cant see teams currently playing non pairs cricket will be happy to now start playing it and therefore I'd like to think it could be the end of pairs cricket in Durham.

Could they split it into say 8 divisions and have the winners of each division going into the end of season DCB competition?

We havent even talked about teams like Burnopfield, Evenwood, Annfield Plain, Tantobie, Blaydon and Ryton yet, whom I'm assuming would come within the jurisdiction of this new setup.

Not sure whether Tyneside Senior League would as it combines with the Northumberland board. Lanchester play in that too btw and Beamish are in their junior league.

I run a junior side, if it does go to regionalisation next year, then i will have to reconsider on not carrying on for next year,as son will be playing 15`s and 18`s while my junior team play on another night, so if it cuts down my travelling time could well keep the junior team on.
Another note to regionalisation is what days the juniors play, (dont know which days juniors play in the county league) but coast /senior league age groups play on same days apart from u13, so wait and see the changes for that.

Sunday - U13
Monday - U15
Tuesday - U18

In the DCL, or it was when I played 6 year ago

Good point re days. U11's in the DSL currently play on a Sunday morning and I think the U13's play on a Wednesday. I know that the N & T league U11's play on a Tuesday.

Originally they thought that it was going to be too much to re-organise both the senior and junior leagues at the same time but it looks like they have had a change of heart.

The aim is to ultimately have the whole junior structure under the control of the DCB but it seems to me that the DCB might not be set up administratively at the minute to do that. As its the DCB and to come back to NCB's point earlier in this thread I dont know if the N&T league will be included or not.

TBH I think the whole thing needs shaking up. Its too much of a sleepy hollow; differential rules for competitions and leagues which needs standardising. Hopefully it will end pairs cricket.
