Redditors gave Wall Street traders an absolute pasting

Your pension, private wealth managers and family offices usually. But mainly your pension.

Wrong again, I dealt with a financial advisor not long ago about switching my pensions over into one work pension. He did a financial test on me to see what level of risk I would be prepared to take , He said my pensions are all in low risk ventures anyway . Hedge fund short scum are high risk . nothing to do with my pension fund at all

Really , How come then they have actually sold shares that don't even exist ? They have positions on shorts that add up to 140% . That shows the pure greed of these leeches using their fancy dan ways to screw more money out of people and it back fired massive
If we're going to have more regulations, which wall street suddenly want now, let's start with not being able to short over 100 percent. What's the argument for being able to do this?

This wouldn't have happened if short sellers hadn't targeted it for a quick buck with the express intention of sending a business bust that wasn't actually bust yet. And the firm that's in trouble because of this, what were they thinking putting themselves in the position where the outcome of one company's share price will make or break them instead of having a number of positions in play?

If manipulating the stock market to the detriment of people's livelihoods so that arseholes with no social conscience can profit and fuck the the consequences is a bad thing then this wholen area of testing needs to be regulated or shut down.

Whilst I am delighted to see a hedge fund bet go south, I am unsure how short selling can be blamed for Gamestop's woes. Gamestop is going to the dogs because its business model is largely obsolete.

Unless a company has plans to raise finance by issuing shares, its share price is pretty much irrelevant to its business.

He didn’t mean your pension as in you specifically. He meant the general public’s pensions, the working mans pension.

I Know mine are in Royal London and Legal and General like most working blokes pensions , They don't shove all our money into a scheme where locusts bet a stock will not only fall but bet with stocks that don't even exist .
MonkeyTassle called me a Moron above , He must think he is Nick Leeson the man who broke the Baring Bank  Looks to me like he doesn't know half what he thinks he does

I hope your pension fund havent invested in game stop then for your sake.

Surely the best position now would be to keep shorting and shorting the stock..

Short Squeezing you mean , Every time the hedge fund shorters make a move to destroy the price the Reddit lot need to keep buying . the price will only go up if they all held out and bought more along with all the other people world wide now in on it

What happens when the redditors get bored

Doesn't matter they proved a point.

Doesn't matter they proved a massive point. Gamestop was / is floundering as a business, these hedge funders made a move that would have probably finished it off for good the Reddit lot seen this and seen they could turn the tables on the greedy parasites which they did . It's fantastic as far as I am concerned

Fantastic for a short time...

Like monkey tassle said they have manipulated the stock (illegal) of a company that is floundering and when that company says it cant continue a lot of redditors will lose their money because it will go to zero.

Or they will remove the ability to trade the stock which means money will be stuck and then it will go to zero...

Which means that if they hold on and hold on too long the hedge funds will be rubbing their hands

manipulated the stock
That's exactly what the hedge fund short sellers did in the first place when they traded / sold mass volumes over 140% to make the price crash , then they clean up just at the right time .. just this time it all went Pete tong

No they didnt they looked at a company who was floundering in your words and predicted that it would fall in value..

Redditors have manipupated the stock so it doesnt truly represent the value of the company (illegal)

How is it illegal for a lot of people to band together and say we will buy this share ? If it was illegal they would not have sold them the shares ,You are talking crap no one has been arrested from Reddit and no one will be . The shares got froze for a day then they started trading them again but only one at a time because they knew for a fact they would go bust when everyone else started piling in on them ... Legally

It's becsise they've traded on margin. Oddly enough which will be what lost of the reddit jockies will be doing.

There is nothing to say they have illegally manipulated the stock. The vast majority of lawyers to financiers seem to view it as nothing illegal or at most ambiguous
