Recommend me a bat..

Looks like my bat has given up the ghost and so I'm in the market for a new one.

I've got a maximum of £150 to spend and would prefer something on the heavier side.

I'd rather that I could have it pre knocked in as I can't be bothered with anything other than about 30 mins knocking in mid way through the season.

Best way is to pick a few up and see what feels right. Even the same make/models can have pretty big variances. Also, I tend never to bother knocking bats in these days. Unless you are playing at a pretty high standard and regularly facing the new ball they are going to last, and a plastic face will keep it together.

Have you popped into Crown Sports at Boldon and spoke to Chris? I don't know what he charges for a new bat these days but its always better speaking with a bat maker rather than buying off the peg, Chris is a great bloke (good cricketer too) and should be able to sort you out. The two I've bought from him are fantastic. It's difficult to recommend a bat as what is great for me may not be for you.

Depends on your style of play . Are you a front foot player who plays on low bounce wickets who needs a low middle , a back foot cutter/ nurdler on bouncy turning wickets who needs it higher with a lighter pick up, or a later hitter who wants thick edges, curve and weight ?
Have a look in just sport over Newcastle then get the same thing cheaper on the net or pay the bit extra and get the one in your hand you know feels right , bounce a few off its middle in the shop see how it pings

little bit more but you could do worse than or check out custom bats forum for ideas.

Should be able to get something nice for around 150 mind you. Decent Kookaburra or GM. My GM Octane is 2.12 and was around 150 from Just Sport. Very nice bat too.

I loved Gunn & Moore bats until I found a Newberry which had a heavier feel and a great edge! Canny bit of weight near the toe too. There's a special offer on at the minute for the GT Player, which is around your budget. Check this out ....
