Really minor annoyances

Radio stations. Cars developed a fault so I can't link my phone to it at the minute so been stuck with the radio for the commute. Basically constantly having to change station to try and find one with a song I'm happy to listen to, or at least one that doesn't have adverts or presenters chatting on constantly

Is it android? Mine's only got working again and suspect it was fucked by a recent update. Updated phone the other day and it works again. 🤔

Extremely minor annoyance that'll start happening regularly; companies slapping 'AI' on gadgets without explaining how it improves product or benefits you personally. Most likely it'll just be automating a task rather than them doing something manually. Won't affect your enjoyment of the product at all, but they'll slap it on the box anyway, because modern and snazzy.

when people refer to their wife/partner/girlfriend as 'my lass'. i think it sounds very possessive as though they own them. same the other way round for women who say 'my lad'.

I agree, but I can't quite explain why "my wife" doesn't sound as possessive.

neither can i, i just think it sounds awful. same as when folk say 'our lass'. it's as though the partner is the property of whoever the describer is.
U sound jealous? Take it you're single?
married for over 30 years. i don't like text speak either. perhaps i'm just a bit old fashioned.

My fianceé hates it when I do it but I've never heard "our lass" used as anything other than an endearing term in my experience.

How else are you supposed to describe them? Even if you introduce them by saying "this is my good lady" you're still implying possession...

i just say 'my wife'
i just think my/our lass sounds disrespectful. it's no big deal really, just my opinion. it's the word lass i suppose.

it's part of the lorry test. anything less than a 20 car queue is a fail.
I assume it's cos they legally can't drive more than 10 hours is it? That they're trying to make up as much distance as possible, but seems daft to hold up everyone just to get a vehicle ahead

Our lots bought right into it, everything’s AI. For someone who’s actually studied AI and Machine Learning it drives me mad. I just ask to see the results if the Turing Test they’ve done, which usually results in silence

Not sure if it's minor, but headphones culture. Younger people constantly with headphones/pods in. Few youngins at work with them in all the time, seems ignorant and unfocussed to me....as much as I love music I wouldn't want it in my ears 8 hours a day.

I describe her as my current wife.
Is that better?
That is just plain rude.
You could always try calling her "my first wife", see how that goes.
Terribly terribly rude.
i just say 'my wife'

Lass is, to me such a gorgeous all encompassing nort east of England word I can never be offended by it. Same as Hinny. It warms my heart to hear it. I suppose it is all about context. We can tell if it is being used as an endearment or as a possessive.
