Really minor annoyances

Not really comparable really. One is a coffee. I could afford it, but I’d resent it

I never get the business model either, they’d sell loads more at lower (if still inflated) prices.
If they sold more they’d need more staff and overheads so probably have a sweet spot at some stupid price where they only need a skeleton staff. it’s the same with arena drinks, they know if people wanna drink they are forced to do it but add in at airports you’ll have a decent percentage who can expense it or have already spent £5k+ going away so £10 for a coffee isn’t worth arguing with your partner over before you go away.

I’m not saying it’s morally right but as a business sense it’s probably perfect.

If I’m being honest, if I’m not paying cash, I’m not even aware of how much I’m paying for a coffee until I check the bank balances etc. it’s just a quick slap with the card and stroll back to the table. And as I’m getting more and more down with the kids and carrying less cash, especially when I’m off on holiday and probably mostly carrying a few euros for taxi fares or something, it’s even less likely I’ll have cash.

You’ll attract the cash is king folk now man 😂. I’m sure I’ll have been overcharged a few times when I’ve just tapped my phone and swiped the notification away without fully checking but I guess that’s the price I pay for not having loads of coins around the house now thankfully.

As we’re on the minor annoyances thread, I should perhaps mention that I maintain a jar of coins in my car to avoid the, often more than minor, annoyance of the requirement to use parking apps.

At this point I’ll refrain from a lengthy sharing of the ridiculous difficulties that I’ve had that I eventually discovered were preventing me from using a parking app because I’d previously used it for parking in Milton Keynes, 5 years previously, for a work related rental car, with a different registration to my own car, that I was attempting to park in York.

When I park in Durham ( Crossgates) at 8.53am on Sunday morning and show my youngest son the bus station so he can get the bus to Sunderland for the derby build up. Find out the 9.18 am bus is running so walk back to the car and arrive at 9.11am.
Unfortunately find out Sunday parking isn't free so a ticket for £50 reduced to £25 if paid within 14 days.
Look around for Traffic Warden DU125 who issued the ticket but nowhere to be seen which in hindsight was probably just as well for his or her well-being and my freedom.
Returned home, paid fine online and went to match which thankfully put a minor lesson of suffering a financial penalty by not realizing that street parking on a Sunday morning for 20 minutes in Durham in perspective.
In future when I go into Durham by Park and Ride it still won't stop me verbally wishing £25 worth of harm on Traffic Warden DU125 should I come across the specimen.
I have never parked before in Durham on a Sunday morning and can guarantee I never will again albeit my fault for not checking.

I got a speeding ticket today. Well I got an email telling me I had not paid my fine.

However I was not notified I had been done for speeding because I hadn’t and this email wants me to click on a link to pay the fine!

Are people really that stupid to click a link to pay a fine they never incurred?

I’m mildly annoyed.

Are people really that stupid that they think the DVLA knows their email address and notifies them by email?

Do they also think that the DVLA mail them from something like pretoriacarpets.za?

Apparently yes, quite a few really do.

I think DVLA does know my email address as I get email confirmation when I pay my road tax.

We were out this evening for the bairn’s Christmas choir recital.
Imagine the school canteen done out as an auditorium. All the kids on a wide stage in four or five descending rows. AND EVERY f***ing PARENT RECORDING IN PORTRAIT!

Why? The gormless twats, panning back and forth when they could get the whole scene in if they just moved their phones ninety degrees.

Same goes for people putting video clips of the match online.

I think I’ve said this before on here but a further consequence of this dopey bellendery is when CNN uses some of this amateur video of some event (probably yet another school rampage shooting) the video is ALWAYS in portrait so CNN shows it with a giant out of focus version of the video playing simultaneously behind the actual video to fill in the empty space at the side. Why don’t they just blank out the sides of the screen with flat colour instead of this eyeball wrecking bollocks?

For cnn and news same for sky and bbc.... I think people should value their work though as basically free lance journalism? At least film it right then sell instead a lot of people give away for free. With out thinking their doing the news job, Sorry if any spelling errors their... I have tried to make it readable for you.

So your ‘minor annoyance’ is that CNN broadcast school rampage shootings in portrait as a consequence of dopey bellends not filming it properly?

Maybe the bit you put in brackets was a bit unnecessary?

No I threw that out as an example of the kind of emerging news that they wouldn’t have on-the-spot cameramen for so would be relying on the public to send in video clips from their phones. I’m sure there are many other more ‘tame’ examples.

I’m also sure you knew that.

Yeah. I suppose I was merely agreeing with you that you could have chosen another more ‘tame’ example.

I’m sure you knew that.

😉
