Realistic replacements

In no particular order I'd take...

Mark Robins
Nigel Adkins
Nigel Pearson
Gary Rowett
Chris Hughton
Gus Poyet
Phil Parkinson
Carl Robinson
Tony Pulis

I'd welcome Super Kev but would need decent support staff...

A young and up coming coach who has a clear philosophy and style of play.

Some one of the ilk of that Potter at Brighton.

I probably wouldn’t be against Poyet coming back. I think he would benefit from working in a lower division again and being given the opportunity to coach players.

Knowing us, it’ll be some dinosaur like Pulis.

He might not be a realistic option for us but it’ll not be long before Barton is given an opportunity at a bigger club than Fleetwood

I would also go with Pearson and Phillips. Pearson is in the mould of Smith, Reid, McCarthy, Keane and Allardyce, hard ex-pros who take no shit and can be right bastards. Those five all did well here to a greater or lesser extent. Pearson also got Leicester out of League One and then came back to set in motion the eventual title winning team. Failing that I think Parkinson is a good shout.

I used to think this but now I think we need an experienced manager, at least to the end of the season, who can go in the changing room and say I don't f***n care who you are if you don't do it for me you can f*** off!

Not really sure at the moment. Lets be honest we wouldn't have fancied Lambert but it shows what decent experience can do at this level if you can organise and use the positive aspects you have, look at Adkins at Hull last season too.

Rowett isn't a bad shout though not totally convinced. Pearson if Phillips was involved maybe at this level too. There's probably plenty of guys up and coming but I can't name many up off the top of my head. I think I'd prefer someone with a strong mentality, who has been here before or worked/played for a big club and knows what to expect in terms of demand.

I honestly don't think too many could do much worse with the squad as we're going nowhere but backwards. At the moment I'd even take Ball as caretaker to buy time till January/this takeover is done as he knows what to expect and it wont faze him and despite him taking over a few shit sides before and results being mixed he was always positive as caretaker even if we were a bit naïve at times. Results are mixed anyway, but a bit of positivity aligned with a side which will graft is much needed.
