Realistic replacements

I still don’t understand the logic of

To get out of League One we need a League One manager

It’s a bit like what we’ve already tried with the player recruitment

I.e. To get out of League One we bought lots of League One players.

Yep it’s absolute nonsense isn’t it, he got promoted with the other club so he knows how to do it...winning games consistently might help

Who can we bring in, who would you go for?

Ross gas to go but who can we replace him with?
depending if this takeover happens. If it does there's plenty good experienced managers out there who have got teams promoted. If it doesn't then we're stuck with this loser, as we probably cannot afford to sack him

I agree that Jock McTavish has to go but some of the people being mooted here are just unrealistic. Houghton could get a decent championship job and I think BSA is unrealistic even with a takeover.

The bulk of people being mentioned have never managed at League one level for years. Are they really going to drop down?

Clough would take the job and is the only sensible suggestion in my eyes

Clough, Pearson or Hughton are all good shouts. I said when Moyes left we should go for Danny Cowley, certainly when Grayson or Coleman left. No chance of that now with him going to Huddersfield.

No good giving names of lower league mangers who play decent football. It would be a whole different ball game managing us. Every team in this league turns up like it’s their fa cup final. Need someone who is wise to this

Maybe last season they did but this season they turn up and target the fact we just aren't very good and slow. We are generally over ran in midfield at times because of a lack of pace and physical presence, are we a scalp? Yes, but we are also just not very good and I actually think a few teams at home this season have given us a bit more respect than we deserve.

Another vote for someone like Clough or if Hughton would come then great.

Don’t understand why cloughs name keeps coming up cos having been given chances elsewhere he’s only ever been successful at burton

How true was the report that BSA wanted to come back to manage us? If true, then there's no contest, whatever it takes bring him in. He won't drop down to League One to manage us some have said on here, how do you know? Has he been asked? We should move heaven and earth to get the bassa back here.

When did he last manage in League one? Last time he was in the championship with West Ham they only went up via the play off final. West Ham had quite the budget that season and he was supposed to walk that League and he only got them up via the play offs. Would you really fancy him to take on a League one side in October and get them promoted

We don't want a league one manager. We want a manager that can get us out of this league and continue on up to the top flight. I'm not that interest in what BSA did or didn't do elsewhere. An experienced manager and ex Sunderland player that did well in the short time he was manager here and knows what the fans expect and what they won't accept will do for me. If he's available and would come back then for me he has to be top of the list.
