Re-arranging deckchairs on the Titanic for the 3rd test

Sometimes that can be deceiving mind, never seen anybody bowl as bad and get 5 wickets in a innings as Bess did in the first test in Sri Lanka.

He is not anyway near a international bowler imo
His average has to be the most flattering in world cricket. Look at the actual wickets he took in Sri Lanka, probably one of them was a good ball the rest the batsman may as well of kicked their own stumps over.
He’s not the worst spinner to play for England is he though? Been a fairly useful player for England. I’d play Leach but I wouldn’t be surprised if Bess is the one they prefer in the long term

Can’t think of a worse one apart from Borthwick who to be fair to him was only picked as Swann fucked off mid tour.

I honestly he is very close to the worst who have had a run in the team.

Obviously there is worse who have had odd game here and there and then dropped straightaway.

His own county did not really want him, not getting at the lad but imo there is no way he is the answer long term.

It is a very difficult, especially in modern cricket with more focus on white ball etc, but we need to unearth better spinners than Bess imo ,because just not international class at all.

The England set up who see him at very close quarters over a period of time seen to think that as well, but options very limited.

All about opinions mate, but don’t think his stats can be taken on face value and I think England know that.

He couldn’t get a game for Somerset because they had Leach.
Bess had a decent season with Yorkshire, he will play a lot of cricket for England

not sure to post this, but can someone tell me how on earth Marcus L is number 1 in the rankings!?!?

He hasnt played a test before this series in a year, and hasnt played away from home in 30 months!!

What a joke

I saw a list of his first innings scored must have been 25 in a row that looked astonishing. I agree though you have to factor in longevity and form. Root / Smith should easily be number one because they are the best in the world.
