Ramipril

junglist31

Midfield
Been taking this a week for high blood pressure. I'm 51 and run and walk but do drink quite a bit but my BP wouldn't come down.
Normally around 145 over 95. Been on the lowest dose for a week and it's dropped down to around 125 over 85 without any lifestyle changes.
The doc said I would probably have to double the dose after I have a blood test on the 17th to see how everything is going but if it stays like this hopefully I won't have to.
I presume quite a few on here are on BP after the last 10 seasons or so we've had. Similar story or bad reaction to it?

Been putting off medication for a bit, been trying to get it down myself but not having much joy. If anything it seems to have gone up since I knocked alcohol largely on the head. Must be more techy with everyone without it.

Mine is about 145/83 since I was 38, I'm 40 now.

That's a big drop and seems very reasonable for a 51 year old surely? You must be happy with that, seems like good news to me?

125/85 is fine. I had an issue with Ramipril which was getting an irritating cough and it made if difficult getting to sleep.

I'm over the moon. Like you I've been putting it off for ages having to go on tablets but the BP just wouldn't budge. Running 7 mile 3 times a week and also walking and weight lifting made no difference.
Cant believe the difference it's made.

Mine was this high. I took it for a year.
Came down a little. In January I had a massive change. Cut out drinking and processed food as well as eliminating sugar. Joined a gym and persisted.
List 1.8 stone and all blood are perfect as well as blood pressure.
It’s not easy but getting to become the normal for me.
Feel 100% better in everything.

You may be better doing it this way than the pills. Worked for me.

I've read what's quite common. What dose were you taking? I'm only on 2.5mg.

I do loads of exercise like I said. I do like the booze and that'll never change. Haven't got much else to do.

I was the same. But because I feel better I’ve loads to do.
I’ll tell you it’s better than taking medication.

So you`re on 5mg a day? It`s more the bottom number they worry about. The five mg looksl ike it`s doing the trick knocking it below the magic 90 figure which is what the nurses all aim for. The blood tests are to check and see if its ok with your kidneys etc before they boost your dosage. Just be careful with your salt intake etc and you`ll be reet.

Rather enjoy me drink on tablets then give the drink a rest like.

No just 2.5 a day.

Miserable Scottish mare must have lied. She told me 5 was lowest dose when she put me on it, I`d remonstrate with her but she has to stick a needle in me on Tuesday and bollock me cos of the state of my pressure and sugar and she`s not the gentlest of souls to begin with
By the way did you have to do the 24 hour monotoring carry on with the little machine and auto cuff you had to hump round for a day?

I haven't even seen a doctor. I went for my annual check up cos I'm over 50 and then got a message saying we want you to go on medication.

I've had high blood pressure for years,im now nearly 53 so trying to get it down a bit(155/95)
Instead of going on the meds I'm trying other alternatives,I'm taking kyolic aged garlic herbal tablets, and I've starting drinking beetroot juice.
Its definitely making a difference,I like to add i barely drink, dont smoke and have a very physical job.so it's not my lifestyle thats causing it

Found out my BP was high after having a few unexplained nose bleeds. Have been on Amlodipine (10mg) since back end of last year. Was down to 138/92 last time I submitted readings. Have lost a bit weight and do lots of walking which has helped.

Started me off on 2.5 mg about a year ago, raised it to 5 mg a few weeks after, It has brought my BP down and am feeling lots better especially during and after exercise.
