My recollection of the time was that 'the fans' wanted him out - that was what they were saying on local phone ins. I'm damn sure Shepherd would say that fan pressure was part of the reason for him being sacked. I understand why that might embarrass you and why you might want to rewrite history. Don't forget we are in the NE as well. Our memory of what was being said by fans is as clear as yours.

Excellent appointment that, bet Ashley has had to pay him a small fortune to get him to stay.

Bit of a comedown for Benitez this thought, he was at the Bernabeu only a few months ago.

My memory is being a season ticket holder and speaking to other Newcastle fans, to know what was going on at the time, but cos you've listened to the radio, I guess you're right haha
 
It's a bit like getting the clap, but bragging that you got it from a porn star instead of just some lass down the road. You've still been given the clap by the way, and you paid through the nostrils to get it from the Spanish slapper. :lol:

Your club rightly has a reputation of fans getting managers out and unfortunately Bobby was one of them, as you well know. I do understand why you want to tell it differently. I know plenty Mags so I know the truth is somewhat different to your telling. That is though a common historical phenomena.
