Rafael Benítez

Any team that has put up the slightest of fight against a Rafa mag side has come away with at least a point. Championship sides will be in full on fight mode against them every game next season.

They will not be promoted with Rafa as manager next season.

Byookmerk the ferk out erv this.

Not sure about that like but if they get off to a dodgy start it could get difficult for FSW

Andy, the thing is, the chship is weak as piss. Look at the team's that finished 3-6. Have you watched the games so far ? The players are dross man.
Even the likes of Anita, Dummett, Haidara, Lascelles, Colback and Aarons will be a cut above in there.
I don't think it's anywhere near a given that Sissoko, Townsend, Perez, Mitrocoward, Mbemba and Janmatt will go either. Once they see Benitez committing, most will stay given they don't face a wage cut.
Far more likely Benitez will bin the likes of Cisse, Gouffran, Thauvin, Taylor and even Tiote.
No way will they fail to come straight back up.

Have to agree. I'd love to see them flounder in the championship for years but they seem fairly well equipped to come back up. Their finances don't seem bad, and the parachute payments will help there. They wouldn't be able to have a sustained period there without major cuts but they can manage a season. They'll lose some of their squad of course but you'd still fancy them to have enough there to compete in that league, I've watched a few championship games and they're bloody awful. People are clinging to the "they'll need to be up for a fight, they'll get kicked all over" aspect, I hope they're right but I think they'll handle it easily enough.

I expect them to come straight back. Last time they went down I also expected it. The trouble was that we didn't use that extra season in the prem to put any distance between us. This time needs to be different. Fuck what they do, we need to see SAFC improve and push for top half. There are a lot of players who won't move to a club that isn't in the north west or London, we need to make sure we're a more attractive option for those that are happy to play in the north east. For now we are, since they're in the championship. We need a good season so that if they do come back they're a newly promoted side whilst we're a team that are pushing top half. We have to (finally) push on.

Bouncing straight back in nowhere near as easy as Newcastle supporters seem to think. Giving Benitez the reins means nothing.

The most important thing that they get a core of 6 or 7 British players that know the league and want to do the club a favour. You can hang on to all the talent that they currently have, but what does it mean really if they aren't up for a scrap? Who in that squad is primed for a fight in the second tier?

So, they're faced with a massive turnover of players, which often goes badly.

On top of that you've got squads and fans of teams that have never played at places like St James treating the Newcastle fixture as their most important game of the season.

I'm going to be sat as an interested spectator viewing how they operate this summer, with or without Benitez. There's no perfect formula for promotion, but what I do know is that those players they have there now do not have the bottle for playing twice a week away at some of the places they'll have to go next season.

Good post, I agree with a lot of it. Will be interesting.

There isn't that many strong sides in the league at the minute for me, they have talent in the squad so they should win games

I have only seen a handful of Championship games this season, but aside from a bit of blood and thunder, it doesnt look up to much. Unless the mags are forced into a completely new bargain-basement first team, I really cant see them struggling too much. Even the likes of Steven Taylor will be pretty comfortable among the players from that league.

For me, the mags' only potential problem will be in having to keep some of the poor attitude players like Sissoko who can split a dressing room, but if they can ditch the moaners and keep a core of the likes of Taylor, their keepers, Colback, Mitrovic then they will be pretty comfortable and get promoted.

It was a lot of fun seeing them relegated, but I dont think we arent going to have too much fun watching them do well in their league next season.

Yep all about what we do. Let's really make a statement this summer and next season

We need to be ready from game 1

I think coming straight back will be relatively straight forward its a poor league imo and they will have far and away the biggest budget.
They seem to think that by keeping Benitez they will come straight back up and then challenge, that's where they are likely to come unstuck.

Agree. The worry is that last time they came up they were full of beans and did well for a time...beating us 5-1 of course. Hopefully we'll have improved a lot by then.

No its 55% of £120m so £66m first season then 40% 2nd season before dropping further for the 3rd.

So as long as they come straight back they should absorb the blow with their profits and selling some players.
Is that not for the teams relegated next season?

Exactly, it's a weak league. I'd be saying the same if we'd gone down, had we been financially able to keep a front three of Defoe, Borini and Khazri in the championship we could play bill and Ben the f***ing flower pot men at centre back and still walked the championship

The four examples of me claiming you are angry are on the first page?

I'm at work, man. Both the missus and my little boy are asleep when I wake up, not that it's any business of yours like

Any other questions?
No, the time you posted is on the first page, I find it quite sad that a mag within the first 20 minutes of waking up logs on here! Bizarre behaviour for someone who claims to be married with a child!

Did you miss the part where I said that they are asleep at that time?

Reaching for my phone on the bedside cabinet and browsing the web is the quietest way for me to occupy my time.
