Rafa is holding out for assurances before committing to a long term deal, but looks set to put pen to paper.

Ashley keen to keep him on, the plan is to try and hold onto as many first team players as possible and get promoted at the first time of asking.

High risk strategy from Mike?

If the 4 decent players, they have, say they want to leave he'll be on the next helicopter to the Wirral.

The one's who'd remain, like Shelvey, Riviére & Perez, aren't best suited for the lower leagues.

Mitrovic would go into his shell quicker than a tortoise in a bush fire.

Maybe these apparent 'assurances' he is looking for is that most of the squad will leave and he wont be lumbered with them?

I'm not saying he will or won't sign but the club will be doing their best to chuck out positive messages.

In all honesty who really cares? He's not exactly done well since he's been there. He'll struggle to get the players he wants in the Championship, and unless they storm the league they'll be disappointed

Mitrovic, Shelvey, Perez, Winjaldum the keeper, and Sissoko will all have takers so highly unlikely they'll still be there
