I think it's more complicated than that. Aguero isn't going to swap Manchester City for Arsenal, no matter what his wife says. Tarkowski won't swap Burnley for Fulham should they come up, just because the Kings Road has loads of high end shops.
no, but if tarkowski is definitely leaving burnley, and his choices are newcastle or a london club like palace for the same money, the location is more of a factor

I wish that was true but I really don't think that it is.
Surely it'll be what standard the club is/aims to be, contract, playing time, manager, players, and so on, well before location.

Otherwise nobody of note would have signed for Man City, and teams like Fulham, Charlton, Millwall, & Brentford would be able to attract a much better standard of player than their Northern counterparts?

Don't get me wrong, if it's a choice between Liverpool and Chelsea some players would rather live in the bright lights of the Capital, but it's not the be all and end all. Similarly if a player has to choose between West Ham and Newcastle, all things being equal, we'd have to compensate them for not being a London club, but to suggest a player would choose Fulham over Benitez's Newcastle (as someone on here said) is a bit silly.

There'll be players who'd rather play for Sunderland in League 1 than Brentford in the Championship (again, all things being equal).

I'd agree with that. It would be more of a factor, just not the primary sticking point. As you suggest, it would be the wage first and foremost, then playing time etc. If Palace offered significantly less wages, wouldn't guarantee an acceptable amount of playing time or whatever, Tarkowski would choose us.

I hope he stays, if he leaves they might get a decent manager who can mould a team without having to spend an amount of money they blatantly don't have.

money will 99% of the time be the first and only factor

If it is the reported £4 million a year he's on and West Ham pay the £6 million compensation fee, then effectively they've covered well over half of his wages while at Newcastle.

Yet again, Ashley plays a blinder.
Didn't they get £3 million for Pardew? £9 million back in compo means it's costing him very little out of his own pocket to actually pay his managers.

I don't understand what is so funny about that as it was based on Fulham being promoted.

Two clubs in the same division, one is based in the capital city, has a wealthier chairman that looks like he's willing to invest, a better youth set up and a club on the up.

The other based up north, has a tight wage structure, a chairman who wants out and doesn't appear to be willing to invest anything further, but a bigger ground.

I know who i would choose!

Seems Fonseca has in fact NOT signed a new contract at Shaktar and will announce whathe is doing soon

so he could be back in the frame

doesn't he only have 1 year left on his contract though, why would someone have to pay £6m, when his contract wouldn't even be worth that?

I have a feeling your choice would be sporting Timbuktu if that was the other choice ;)

A league one club in the north easts forum being fully kept up to date on West Hams managerial news.

The worlds gone mad.

Not sure marra. It's been reported that's his salary, so will be the figures the media have come up with I would imagine. Didn't we get a decent wedge for Allardyce despite him only having a year? I can't remember now.

Haway man we all thought he would fuck it up in the Championship when they went down because he wasn’t used to that level.

We were wrong and unfortunately he’s done a good job and got a team relatively bereft of much Pl quality comfortably safe. He is a good manager

You'd choose St Johnstone before you chose us man

Bigger club, top half Premier League club, better squad, large loyal fanbase, and a much better manager.
