Looking at Rafa's PL record. jury is still out tbh.

He had that one good season with Liverpool when they finished 2nd but there was a few 4th 5th and 6th place finishes with a lot of money spent.
Chelsea he took them over and they finished only 3rd quite a way off Man United who won the league
Went in with the Mags when he could have kept them up but took them down.

Hardly a glittering career CV in England. Dare I say it, he's rather overrated and his achievements have been somewhat glorified,
Jury's still out man, he's a very good manager.

I could spend 40-50 mill in the championship and get promoted. With that kind of spending their season would be a failure if they came 2nd

Someone was failing miserably at that already this season. I don't think as shit as he is, you're a better manager than Di Matteo.

as well as solid Championship players in Darlow, Lascelles, Anita, Colback, Mbemba, Dummet, Shelvey, Perez, Gouffran & Mitrovic.

They SHOULD be absolutely pissing that league.

It'll be interesting when they come back up. How many of those will be good enough to avoid a relegation scrap, and that's the money from "Gini", Townsend and Sissoko spent.

He had a chance to save them last season but couldn't manage it, and they've lost a chunk of money for this season. What a legend eh?

Money does not guarantee success, look at Villa who have spent a similar amount.

Doesn't guarantee it but it does in most cases have a direct correlation. Villas season will also be deemed a failure.

Additionally, the mags had a much better squad when they went down. They could/should have been promoted without making 10+ signings but instead have spent 50 mill on championship players and poor prem players that they will need to replace in the summer. I don't think Villa had that luxury
