Racist Chelsea fans.

They've switched to UKIP mate. The VAST majority of racists, in this country, vote for UKIP. That's just a plain old fact. I'm not saying everyone who votes for UKIP is racist, but racists DO vote for UKIP
I don't know like, I reckon the vast majority of people in the North east that are racist, will probably be Labour voters, despite them not being a particularly "racist party" (obviously apart from some of their councillors having to resign due to being racist, allowing kids to be abused due to the colour of the skin of those involved, and generally treating iraqis and Afghans as a sub species).

Hasn't UKIP votes in the north east rocketed?

Far from being a chelsea fan, but this will only be a minority of their fans. All clubs will have a proportion of idiots in their following. Including SAFC.

I am taking the video at face value and assume it hasn't been doctored.
Very true lots of very good fans from all clubs it just takes a few idiots to ruin the face of the club.

This is probably the most objective post on the matter.

There is a Chelsea supporter not allowing a commuter board the train - why? I do not know. But based on the supporter in question not chanting himself or even being cheered on by other chanting supporters - I think it is a bit of a leap in creative journalism to link two mutually exclusive events (that appeared simultaneously) to create total moral outrage!

Both incidents are unsavoury (ie the chanting and the pushing)and not acceptable and should be investigated, but the evidence needs to be looked at objectively and fairly.

I get frustrated when the media put their own spin on a story to create a more compelling newsworthy headline. Why let the facts get in the way of a good story - surely racist chanting and physically abusive stories should be good enough as stand alone stories.

Didn't get the likes you were hoping for this did it?

My objective was not to get likes, but to try and retain an element of perspective. When this is making headlines around the world and media outlets are suggesting three year jail terms for those involved would be appropriate I personally think it is over the top in relation to the incident.

Also, I do not like the way the media turn these individuals into national hate figures. Those involved should know better, but obviously there is ignorance on their part and rather than be demonised surely the way forward should be eduction.

It made headlines because it was captured on film and is behaviour that all reasonable people will find reprehensible. In terms of educating these people, no. They can hold whatever opinions they like for me but behaving like they have is not an educational issue- they will understand perfectly well that it is unacceptable and will expect punishment not education, if identified and they will know why.

I went to Luton 15 - 20 years ago and I vividly recall quite a lot of Sunderland supporters chanting a racially abusive song walking towards the ground directed towards some of the local residents. At the time I understood that this particular song was not acceptable, but viewed our supporters more uneducated and ignorant, rather than evil. 20 years on, I would imagine the majority of these people will have matured and grown into law abiding citizens.

I recognise that the incident I refer to is a long time ago and overall attitudes across society have changed, but for what it is worth I think education is worth a shot, before these individuals are publicly hung, drawn and quartered.

And another point regarding the media, since the incident they have been naming & issuing photographs of individuals and then hidden deep in the article making the point that at this stage in the investigation they are being treated as important witnesses, whereas the initial headlines imply otherwise. Nothing like being guilty through association - I would hate my reputation to be dependent on the behaviour of fellow Sunderland supporters!

Dear oh dear, .

Imagine a copper being racist.

Hes supposed to be some human rights activist aswell. Fuckin idiot.
I don't think the police will be able to do anything unless there is video the person pushing the man chanted the song caught on video

He's a **** for what he did, but imagine if he didn't do it for a racist reason but someone else chanting in the carriage gets him fucked over.

What a stupid idiot whatever the outcome, hopefully teach him not to act like that(thinking he can choose who gets on or off as if he's in control) in the future
