I've only read the last three pages of the thread, but it seems everyone is desperate to make Jardine the bad guy for suggesting not everyone condemning the behaviour would say anything at the time. I pointed out racist remarks made by 3 black boxers which I stated hadn’t been condemned by anyone black (to my knowledge) yet if shoe on other foot there’d have been outrage. This was merely to point out the hypocrisy of it all.

I also pointed out that white people have been victims of slavery to North Africans and that both that and the Atlantic slave trade were both completely wrong and ruined lives.

Wether it was ‘racism’ by black or whites in terms of name calling neither would offend me.

What would bother me is if someone was treat differently in terms of opportunities due to skin colour as there is no reason for this to happen.

I agree they probably wouldn't reflect what happened at the game but that doesn't mean its wrong.

A forum is a place for opinions, if everyone acted upon their views in the "real world", it would have some pretty negative connotations.

so in the 'real world' the comment was ok and wouldn't be picked up on ? The hypocrisy you claim suggests racism one way is acceptable because of a claim of racism by a black person. What is your 'experience' of lack of reaction to appalling racist comments ?

I can put you right on it. I've been in countries where I've been the minority due to being white, experienced racist language directed at me and my pals were always quick to defend me. You seem to believe that everyone has had the same experience you have had but it's so clear from this thread you've led a very sheltered life.

I myself have lived and worked in South Africa and north Africa and seen firsthand what outright racism does to a country. And I have like you been on the end of racism being the only white guy in the room and it's not nice at all. Some people still think bigotry is ok and it's passed down to the younger generation.
