Racism at Yorkshire CCC

Full witness statement.

Anyone doubting it anyway or questioning him being a "twat"

Needs to read the whole thing. Anyone still with any doubts after reading that is imo the real twat and condones racism.

The fact that Bumble’s comments have been made in October 2020 in the middle of the George Floyd / BLM / Racial Equality may seal his fate. How can sky sports promote inclusivity and equality for all, but continue to employ someone who’s made comments in the middle of one of the biggest racial equality campaigns ever

It was that cricket badger podcast above. He also spoke in detail about Rafiq negatively it wasn’t simply a 10 second comment about Asians not paying their subs. The detail hasn’t come out but he’s apologised to Rafiq and the Asian community.

Anyway I’m not debating whether it’s right or wrong I just think Sky won’t use him moving forward. Time will tell.
Understood and didn’t know that.
Weird that cricket badger would pass that onto rafiq if it was told in confidence by Lloyd?

If someone said something nasty to me about someone else i’d never run and tell the person? Nothing to do with ‘not being a grass’ it’s just not in my makeup.
So your complaint is that people who have admitted using racist terms are being outed as racist and this might prejudice them from being racist in future? Moronic take.
I haven’t got a complaint i’m asking for everyones thoughts on it.

The PCA deserve scrutiny mind.
Even their statement yesterday about them needing to be “impartial in any situation involving our members either as victim of, or being accused of, discrimination of any kind and offer the appropriate level of support”

As i say the PJA in racing were the same.

Well. They were even more blantant and called on an investigation into bullying to be ended (basically because complaining about someones actions isn’t the done thing in racing).

a private conversation in confidence with someone who then grassed them up and took issue at Rafiq for divulging stuff he was told by DL in confidence.

is it acceptable for someone to be cancelled (or whatever the cancel culture deniers call it) for a text message sent in private in confidence stating an opinion?

is it true asians are geneally wick for paying their subs? Or is it the case where it’s true but no one dare say owt for fear of upsetting anyone like so many things that go on in life?

thoughts?
My thoughts are that you're giving credence to a racist assumption.

I'm sure there are Asians who pay in a timely fashion and Asians who don't, just like any ethnicity of people. There's no reason to group them all together that is acceptable.

And re the text, if you say racist stuff in any circumstance, private, public, whatever, you're saying racist stuff, so don't be surprised if you have to deal with the consequences if its outed.

If you want to avoid being "cancelled" for saying racist stuff, don't ever say racist stuff, and it won't be a problem. It's really very simple.

If someone is the sort of person who values being able to tell racist jokes etc in private, then it's pretty obvious to most right thinking people what that's about.

I think a lot of people’s careers will have been finished today.

I read someone say a while ago we all need to call it out and report it when witnessed in the workplace or wherever and I actually think this is right. It’s a small thing we can do really but it could have a great effect..

On a side note my son comes home from school and says some quite outrageous things he’s picked up from contemporaries. He soon gets put right but I wonder what other young uns the same age are hearing or reading at home or on tinternet.

It really makes me sad and I don’t feel there is an end in sight, hopefully we as a society are going through a purge and we can learn lessons for the future.

There is no doubt there was a bad level of racism at times. Some of the stuff is scandalous.

So i dont know why he needs to infer to that any negative comment or any critique of performance as discrimination? That doesnt sit well with me.

Saying of one overseas player he was a prick with a shit attitude? Hows that racist? That Tino Best would be sent on the first flight back to barbados? Is racist how?

You've skimmed certain parts then.(taken me 2 hours to read it all)

He provides examples of how white players were treated for poor performances and how himself/Rashid were treated.

County cricket is hardly thriving. Seems as good a time as any to tear the whole system down from the top of the ECB and start again. Needs to be a noticeable change in direction and one or two resignations won't suffice
Would have been unthinkable for me to entertain this two months ago but such is the breakdown in my relationship with Yorkshire in that time, I wouldn't be particularly bothered. Obviously harsh on the counties and their supporters who have done nothing wrong though

f***ing hell, that full witness statement. It's levels of racism I honestly haven't heard from anyone other than thick as pigshit teenagers, who hopefully have chance to grow out of it.
And it was so clearly seen as ordinary there.

One little detail I picked out on the cricketing side of things. According to Rafiq, Adil Rashid's curious in-out retired/unretired act with England in red ball cricket depended on whether they were making it compulsory to play for your county. He hated his treatment at hands of - Rafiq alleges - Andrew Gale so much, he preferred to retire from England test ambitions than have to stomach being around Yorkshire for four day county cricket. Of course this itself I remember being framed around "he can't be arsed" lazy, borderline-racist tropes in the media.

Best English leg spinner of my lifetime. Held back because of Yorkshire racism. How many kids have slipped the net, just absolutely shameful.

On Gale specifically, this all brings to light why disgraceful Yorkshire stood by him when he racially abused Ashwell Prince and even the ECB suspended him. Why? Because they were racist.

Disgusting and shameful. As you say, Honestly it hurts to think how much talent have we thrown away as a country.

As a kid I loved Shahzad as well. He was fast, nasty, exciting, passionate. Everything most of the Yorkshire side at the time weren't. Was absolutely gutted when he fell out with Yorkshire (dread to think why) and joined Lancs
He was a good player. Unlucky not to get more than one cap, you have to question whether it was luck on days like today.

Hadn’t even considered that about Rashid and red ball cricket. Absolute shambles, the whole thing

Hoping the politicians, when they report, absolutely eviscerate the ECB, who have failed. Their lines of questioning seemed to be leading that way. I think they could be done.

Is it acceptable to cancel/sack/remove someone for stating an opinion? Yes

is it true Asians don’t pay subs anymore than anyone else. No

were these meant to be rhetorical questions?
