Quickest bowler you have personally faced?

Was having this discussion in the pub the other night,

Calvin Stephenson @ Murton I think is probably mine.
First ball I saw, left,
Second ball didn't see,
Third ball had a waff, and that was over.

Faced a few others but can't remember not being able to actually see it.

Gary Gilder. South African pro and played a few games for Somerset.

The names escape me I'm afraid but I've played First Team cricket within the (old) Readers Durham County League for about the last decade - so anyone from there really.

Evenwood went through a phase of having West Indian quicks open the bowling for them.

Then there's Finlay from Tudhoe. I wouldn't say I coped as well as is have liked but I could always 'see' the ball. Playing an appropriate stroke is another thing

Not sure of speeds but there have been a few that have played First Class so I'd imagine they'd bowl 80's??

Courtney Walsh & Kelvin Williams. I never faced Ian Bishop but he was incredible for his age. Me at one end getting carted all around and the non striking batsmen trying suicide singles off my last ball to get off strike from Bish.

Wouldn't say he was quick - more awkward because of the bounce.
The South African at Burnmoor was sharp last year - as was Wade Cornelius, who I faced in a cup tie against Gateshead Fell a few years ago.

In my brief cricketing 'career,' I used to play against a geet big ginger lad called Luke Evans who was about 6'6 when he was 13/14, used to bowl some reet quick bouncers, plays for Northampton now, I think.

Redby School yard circa mid 1970s.A tennis ball and a concrete floor ground with a searing summer sun.Lethal spell by the lad from around the corner Spugger Hughes mid afternoon. No helmets either or pads or gloves.

Heath Davis for me although honourable mentions for Nixon McLean, Whitmore Quinn and more recently Nelon Pascal.
Same group for me but didn't face Quinn. Pascal was quick through the air but I faced him in April on a slow and low one. Locally Calvin Stephenson was quick in his Etherley and Crook days.Carl Watson could be sharp as could Gareth Smith at Boldon

Chris Matthews in his first spell over here in 1985 rapid. Gilchrist described him as the quickest bowler in Australian domestic cricket from 85-87. When he played for Whitburn a bit later he seemed to have more control but not quite as quick.

There was a Saffer pro at Cheltenham CC a couple of years back (fucked if I can remember his name) who could send some bloody quick ones down, faced him in the nets one evening and wished I hadn't. First ball off him, hung the bat out where I thought the ball would be and sent it back past him to the boundary (we had the nets on the square). This gave him the impression I could bat, I spent the rest of the evening either ducking or putting the stumps back in place.

another one for Heath Davis. Fast and extremely 'difficult' character. A couple of years after his debut for new zealand when his first ball in test cricket went to long leg for 4 wides.

not sure anyone took to him and he didn't come back after one season.

Couple of lads at my Uni had played for minor counties an B&H games in their late teens. Didn't see any of the balls they bowled, but DID hear them crash in to the back wall of the nets, the stumps and of course I did feel them whack me on the thigh.
