Quick zooms

Anyone know about affordable fast zooms?

Fancy summat like a Tamron 17-50 2.8, but I know Sigma and Tokina do equivalents.

Any thoughts?

Got a bit of cash to either to get one of these or get a Nikon FE2 body + cheaper lens, not sure what to do.

I've got the Pentax DA* 16-50 F2.8 and it is a great lens. Not cheap but the quality is excellent. I know that Tokina developed this lens in conjunction with Pentax so the Tokina ones for Nikon and Canon are the same as the Pentax DA*. I paid about 500 quid for the lens in Singapore and I could actually get more for it now on Ebay - most expensive lens I have ever bought but very good.

The Tamron is a cracking lens from what I've seen of it.
